Affirm Relaxer Kit 4 Applications

Affirm Sensitive Scalp Relaxer System is the BEST! I purchased each of the items separately and I will say it was well worth it. I would recommend using the Gentle Assurance prior to applying the Proteco if you scratched or irritated your scalp in any way. Here are the steps I followed:

***Apply the Gentle Assurance (to the scalp if you irritated it in any way)!!!*** Then proceed with the following....

Step 1 Protecto Application:

Apply two dime sized drops into palm and rub hands together. Gently work throughout entire head of hair, especially to the new growth area.

Step 2 Creme Relaxer Application: (I used the Sensitive Scalp formula)

Apply ample amount of relaxer to thinly-parted sections of hair using an application brush or back of a rat tail comb. Begin with the back sections, working downwards from the crown area. Proceed to the front sections, working from the crown forward. Apply to the hairline areas last. Avoid applying the relaxer directly to the scalp. For retouches, apply relaxer creme to new growth only. Avoid overlapping onto previously relaxed hair. After application is complete, smooth the relaxer with the back of a rat tail comb, using thin partings and working in the same direction as during application. After desired straightening is achieved, rinse relaxer completely from hair with warm water.

Step 3 5 in 1 Reconstructor or Positive Link Application:

Affirm 5 in 1 Reconstructor if hair is fine or limp; Positive Link if hair is medium or coarse; I used the 5 in 1 Reconstructor. Wait five minutes and rinse hair well.

Step 4 Normalizing Shampoo:

Shampoo all areas of hair and scalp. Rinse thoroughly and repeat. (Lather will turn pink if relaxer traces remain, and white when hair is completely neutralized.) Rinse until the lather turns white.

Lastly Style and Finish. I Followed with Kera Care products. Shampoo the hair with KeraCare Hydrating Detangling Shampoo (one wash) and finally deep conditioned with KeraCare Humecto Creme Conditioner (placed a plastic processing cap on head for 30 minutes then rinsed thoroughly. I didn't sit under a heated dryer!

Finally style hair with KeraCare Oil Moisturizer with Jojoba Oil. I would suggest using a small amount.

My results were marvelous and it beats paying the hairdresser $$$$. My hair feels marvelous!

I used it as directed for mild. Hair is straight but fried, after two weeks of heavy coditioning. Have spent more trying to repair it then I did to straighten it. GO TO A SALON ITS CHEAPER.

I had the Affirm relaxer used on my hair in the salon before with great results; so I decided to order this and give it a try at home. I took my time, followed the instructions, and the results were fantastic. I will continue to purchase this product and relax my hair at home from now on. I hate having to sit in a salon all day, and be treated as though the stylist does not value me as a customer. Now, I only have to visit the salon occasionally when I need a color and cut. Who said that Lye relaxers are dangerous? Well, only for ignorant people with no knowledge of their own hair and hair type. I used to buy no-lye relaxers and there was no justice with using them. Dr. Miracle,Motions,African Pride, and Optimum are all useless!! Use what the professionals are using.

Anyway Affirm is good for coarse hair and it is easy on the scalp. I have read so many bad reviews on affirm, I really don't know what they are talking about. My hair is silky,full and bouncy.

After using no-lye relaxers for most of my life with terrible results, I did the big chop, grew out my hair natural for 2 years and then decided to try a relaxer again. I have kinky/course 4b-c hair type. After much research I decided to try lye relaxers and affirm one-out because it comes as a kit with 4 steps including conditioners. I did it yesterday and am very happy with the results. I washed and deep conditioned one week before, co-washed and added coconut oil 2 days before (I work out a lot) based my scalp and ear tops with Carol's Daughter healthy hair butter twice (making sure not to get too much on my new growth) and covered my ends only with Neutrogena deep conditioner. I followed the "normal" relaxer strength instructions for the exact amount of time. Lots of smoothing with only a hint and I mean hint of scalp sensitivity. It could've been my imagination because I was so nervous about it. Anyway, after I finished the 4 step system, I conditioned with the Neutrogena deep conditioner then roller set and air dried with Keracare mouse (and a dash of coconut oil). just make sure to do the partings the way it says to do them..thin slices just below your natural part..It is a very fine crimp. Lower down I will even ad more crimps down the hairshaft to add more volumn. It only takes a small amount of practice, so if your good with a curling iron or any other styling tools, you'll be a pro at this..EASY!!!!!!

Didn't know if I wanted to spend the money to "just try it". Glad I did. Did all my hair. Took some 15 min. to do the whole head. The crimps show through and look so, so bad. I want more body but either the crimps show or to be able to hide them, you have to start it halfway down your head (I want body at the top of my head, not by my ears). Maybe it works for other hair types, but for those with fine hair like mine, it just doesn't work.

Lovely Vintage Jewelry Crystal Peacock Hair Clip

Farouk Chi Ceramic Hair Styling Flat Iron, 1 Inch

I bought a counterfeit CHI from an Amazon vender. I called the manufacturer and discoved Amazon is being sued for selling these on their site. Fair warning, if any item reads "sold by JoeBlow fulfilled by Amazon" you stand a good chance of getting a counterfiet or refurbished product.

Overstock has a information available on how to tell if you got a counterfeit. The main way is that CHI's don't sell for 50-60 dollars. They cost about $100.

I never buy from Amazon if the product is "fullfilled by Amazon", which means it's sold by a third party vender. I'll buy from Amazon only. Don't waste your money.

I read the reviews on this and hesitated to purchase because of them but I made sure it wasn't through a third party seller...it was through Amazon and I felt safe with that, however I received it yesterday and upon opening it realized something just wasn't right. I have an authentic CHI from an "authorized distributor" to compare it to and this one is not legit. Its an amazing knock-off but according to the company Farouk, its fake. Disappointing, but my return label is printed and it's ready to go back. Some tell-tale signs of a fake: the LED light will be red in color constantly...the real ones are clear like glass and then red only when the unit is turned on. Safety stickers on the unit are the easiest way to tell from what I understand because the real CHI has the safety warning info engraved INTO the plastic. Also, the plug itself should have the grounded type with the safety reset button on it. The one I received had the first two signs but the plug was actually grounded so its obviously a "better fake." Too bad the market is so flooded with these counterfeits that you have to double check that you actually get the authentic product which is amazing, btw. The REAL CHI is a superb flat iron that doesn't fry hair in my experience. I was purchasing this one for my 13 year old because I don't want her to scorch her blonde hair into straw and I can't always share mine with her. Oh, and IF you get a fake one you should go to Farouk's website and report it so it can be investigated..there's a link on the left side of the product info page.

I did a lot of research to find out what was the best brand of flat iron prior to my purchase, but the item I received was scratched on the swivel handle and did not perform as I would have expected based on all the reviews. I have Remington brand flat iron that is 2 years old and while it still works it takes longer than it used to to get the desired results with my hair and that is why I purchased the new CHI flat iron. When I used it the new CHI did not do as good a job on my hair as my current flat iron! Between the scratch and the lack of performance, I really feel like it was a possibly a refurbished flat iron rather than brand new. Many moons ago (okay, ten years ago), I had my very curly hair thermally reconditioned by my ex-MIL, who is a pro stylist. She had just received her CHI certification and wanted to use me as her guinea pig, which I happily obliged. My hair was straight and in fabulous condition for the next nine months.

Edited 7/1/13: My CHI was not purchased through Amazon, but at Target. My review is on the true product itself. I've been reading reviews that say if you purchase the CHI on Amazon and it's fulfilled by a 3rd part vendor, it's counterfeit product, which is probably true. Your best bet is to buy it at a retailer, and using a credit card, so you have some purchase protection. But rest assured, the CHI is the best flat-iron for your money.

The Chi I received is not genuine. The power light does not go off when the switch it turned to off. The off/on switch is not a step down from the power light like an authentic Chi should be. It's a good quality fake but is not the real deal. Very disappointing.

460 degree heat & the silicone bar works wonders. The shine afterwards is amazing as well. Took me 30 minutes tops to straighten my hair =-) . With past flat irons it would take me two hours (1 hour on each side) to flat iron my hair, because my hair is so thick. I would totally recommend women to buy these flat irons (especially African American women with very thick or coarse hair).

I purchased these flat irons from a local beauty supply store. My old flat irons broke and I didn't have $100 to buy a new set so I opted for these. I must say These work better than my old pricey ones! These are made perfectly for straightening and curling. I'm African American with natural, semi course hair. I need heat to straighten and curl my hair so the 460 degree heat setting is awesome yet my hair doesn't look or feel fried but I make sure to use heat protectant and lower the heat as often as possible. I stick with something when it works, and this styling wand does that. My hair's kinda funny--it has a mind of its own, but it cooperates nicely with Vidal. I found the prior model of this hot air brush almost a decade ago and have been using them ever since.

I used the brush while my hair was short, and I use it still now that it's long. My hair is rather coarse and is a mix of curly and straight with lots of cowlicks. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair, the brush must be doing something right! It's good for smoothing down the frizzies and getting all the ends going in the right direction after a shampoo, and it's good for touch-ups in between. And is so much easier than hot curlers or the blow-dryer/roll brush combination method.

Usually I allow my hair to air dry until it's just damp and then finish it with the hot air brush, but in a hurry, I blow it nearly dry and then use the brush. With just a trace of dampness, my hair responds beautifully--it just gives up and behaves itself like an obedient child. If I could I'd post a before-and-after picture here to show the marked difference this styler makes.

The last time I walked into the beauty salon for a trim, my hairdresser looked up and exclaimed, "My god, look at you! You're beautiful--your hair is just glorious!" I had washed and styled it just before my appointment.

When my local merchant stopped selling Vidal Sasson's Tangle-Free Hot Air Brush, I panicked and bought four more from Amazon just to have on hand in case the product was discontinued!

I keep one in my suitcase, on in our camper and one in each bathroom. Can't recommend it highly enough!

I've been buying this hot air brush for about 5 years. Easy to use and adds a lot of bounce to your hair. Eliminates the need for a blow dryer in one hand and a brush in the other. Only criticism is that if you don't clean out the air intake area(at the bottom of the handle) with a toothpick every couple of months the unit will overheat and the motor fails. Keep both intake areas clean and it will last a long time.

This is the best for styling my hair. I have never found anything that works better. I have owned 4 and will be buying more... more because they over heat and shut down or won't restart after turning off until it cools down. This one BIG flaw is very aggravating. So now I have two. When one won't work, I just use the other one. I have searched for years for another brand built like this one...the same size barrel...the rubber teeth spaced wide apart...but no luck. The first one I bought eons ago worked fine for many years...when it started acting up (not restarting) I threw it out and bought a new one. That was a mistake. All the others I have bought since have had this problem within months...and the last one turns itself off after about ten minutes.

I originally bought my wife a Farouk (expensive) ceramic flat iron for her thick Jamaican (not relaxed) hair. We had to return it because it didn't get hot enough to do anything. This one goes up to 400 degrees and works beautifully.

I recently purchased this Ceramic Flat Iron and it is very poorly designed. After plugging it in, you have to reach inside the handle to engage the ON button...an unsafe location to say the least. Next, you have to push five outer buttons to set the heat element to the highest level. And finally, when closed, the ceramic plates are not flush, so they do not close completely to straighten one's hair. It is also very heavy and cumbersome to use.

This little piece of wire wrapped with industrial foam might work great for thin or short hair, but it couldn't handle my curls. The big clip wasn't strong enough to hold all my hair, and barely strong enough for half of it. The foam snagged terribly (I lost quite a bit of hair untangling myself from this thing, and nearly couldn't get it out at all), and I'm concerned at how flimsy the wire inside feels.

I'm going back to my homemade sock bun. If you've got thick hair, or it's longer than shoulder-length, I wouldn't recommend wasting your time or money on these clips.

I was skeptical, but decided to pay the $1.09 to give it a try. This product takes a while to arrive since it is shipped from Hong Kong. The key is to first put your hair in a pony tail, place your ponytail through the hole and pull the foam sponge up the to the end of your hair. Roll your hair forward around the foam and then curl it under in the form of a circle to make a bun. I watched a you tube video that was very helpful.

My hair is straight but is very puffy and frizzy looking. I have been using a flat iron for years to smooth it out. The flat iron does the job, but the ends look a bit brittle and don't have any movement. This Conair CS54 iron lets me flatten my puffy hair and gently tuck the ends under so my layered cut actually moves around and doesn't just hang flat. Overall it totally serves my purpose.

I'm just learning how to use a flat iron, so as I become more accustomed to using it, I will add to my comments.

It's difficult to tell WHO is actually rating a product, but the first review sounded like a competitor, with a one star rating.

I like the the 30 sec. instant heat, It has the tourmaline ceramic technology most seem to have this, too.

The first time I used it it was easy to handle, and seemed to do just as advertised.

The controls are in a place (and embedded) where you can't accidently change your settings. It does automatically turn off in 60 minutes.

The iron can also be used to create curls. The directions are illustrated, and easily understood.

I was very excited by the claims Conair made for this ceramic curler/straightener. It does have some great features: it is very lightweight, and it does a good job straightening hair, as long as your hair isn't too thick or too curly. However, I could not make it curl my hair in any way that looked good or remotely like the ads. For the record, I have a great deal of very fine, curly hair, down to the middle of my back, so its a challenge to style it in the best of circumstances. I gave up trying to use it for curling and now only use it to flatten and straighten my hair. The quest continues for the perfect curling iron!

This product makes curls easy! It's sooo easy to use and works perfectly for straight hair. Little tip for any new users-wait at least a day after you wash your hair to use the product. Your hair responds a lot better to the curl if it's not freshly washed.

I have a massive amount of thick, slightly wavy hair, so using a regular curling iron takes me ages. I had completely given up on curling my hair until I saw the commercial for the Infiniti. I absolutely love it! It is great if you have layers because you don't have to worry about your hair falling out of it if you grab a chunk that has parts of both layers. I will warn you that it takes time to master the correct movement to create a curl, but it is worth it when you consider how long it takes to curl your hair normally. The trick is to go SLOWLY. If your hair doesn't curl the first time around slow down until it does. The slower you go, the tighter the curl. Start with the cooling plates toward your head, then twist it up or down until the plates are facing away from your head. Twist as soon as possible so that the curl starts as high up as it can. Hold the end shut so that the plates smooth your hair. Pull the Infinity down the length of your hair like you're straightening it. GO SLOW and *poof!* There's a pretty curl =] The straightener part is amazing as well. My hair always comes out smoother and shinier than it ever did with my other straightener.
