This item performs well. Heats up fast. It was not 3/4 inch wide, but rather closer to 1/2 inche wide.
There are two surfaces on the outside of the iron. (not meaning the heating element, but the casing.) The one side has ridges on it, I think that is so your fingers do not touch the casing directly. The other side of the case (again, not the heating element, but the outside of the case) is smooth. When you are trying to make curl and twist the hair, you need to help to twist it with the fingers of your other hand. Because it gets so hot, I am not able to do this without burning my fingers (from the outside, not on the heating element). My last curling iron would get warm on the casing, but not so hot I could not touch it. It would be nice if they could make it so the outside would not get almost as hot as the heating element to assist with tucking hair under or making curls. For that reason, it is hard to use when making curls. Straightening hair would be easier since you would not need to assist with your other hand. I like the no tangle cord.
