I bought this the other day at Target. The straightener gets really hot, but I did not have issues with the outside getting hot. I was able to straighten my hair with no problem what so ever. It took me about 25 minutes to straighten my hair. I normally have really thick wavy hair so it wasn't too bad
Pros:
Gets hot enough to straighten difficult hair
It does not have a settingquicker more even temperature
It's a cute design
Gets hot within 30 seconds
Cons:
The ceramic plates tend to pull on hair.
Little difficult for longer hair. Since the plates aren't smooth, the flat iron gets stuck and can potentially burn hair if you aren't super careful.
All in all, for the price, it's excellent and gets the job done. However, I am sure there are better straighteners out there, but probably more expensive.I purchased this straightner at Target and the first time I used it was amazed at how hot the outside of the straightner got. It was TERRIBLE. I assumed I left it plugged in too long before using it so I unplugged it. Mind you there is no WAY to hold it because it is THAT hot.
Today I attempted to use it for the second time and I now had three degree burns and blisters on my 2 fingers, thumb, and palm.
I thought maybe my actual straightner was defective and then read other reviews online and they all say the same thing. There is no adjustment for the heat settings so it wams up and WOW. There is no way the outside of straightner should be THAT hot! It's definately unsafe.
The sad thing is that it is geared towards a younger generation because of the "cute" prints, yet very dangerous.
I have contacted Remington with a complaint and will be returning the straightner to Target where I purchased it.
