I have natural curly hair. This brush straightens my hair without the high heat of a straightening iron, and I don't have to worry about burning myself. It does a marvelous job.
It could have been not using it properly though I tried to improve my strategies several times. But when i clamped this shut too tight the bristles would permanently mash and be splayed to the side. I thought it was from them melting, but I was only blow drying on medium heat and flat ironed at 275 degrees, which shouldn't be melting temps to me for tools MADE for heat application. That's low heat to me. IF you have split ends, this will snag some hairs out just because in a way you are dry brushing. You will have to make several passes if you hair is too damp, not soaking... but less than 60% dry. I don't have coarse or super tightly coiled hair, but it is very curly, moderate to little thickness at all (natural 3c). This particular brand/moderl may be better suited to wavy/straighter hair. I went for this model because the bristles looked softer to me and didn't have complaints in the reviews about super hard damaging bristles but these WERE soft but then they mashed when i squeezed too hard so i had to focus really hard on not closing it too tight. Subconsciously I would close it as far/tight as it would go). It would be nice if it had some sort of apparatus you could gauge how tight you want to close it and it stop at a certain point. Probably super complicated and near impossible but a girl can hope LOL. Most of these issues are most likely not with this particular product as much as they are with this type of hair tool.... but this next issue by far is definitely THIS particular product. Upon using this only once, it began shedding immensely. Like if I just raked my fingers back and forth over the bristles, it would fling bristles everywhere. Not a million, but certainly more than should happen at all just from touching it. It lost probably 50 or more altogether but would most likely shed itself bald if I kept rubbing it. Disappointed with that part.
When it wasn't shedding and I was focusing super hard on not closing it too tight and my hair was the right percentage wet and dry... it worked reasonably well. But that's a hard combination to hit all at once so that was probably 4 pieces on my whole head LOL. Nice idea but tricky to use and this one could be made a little better.

This item was found in a search for "electric hair straighteners". The manufacturer's description is misleading since the item is not electric, nor does the description make any attempt to clarify that a hair dryer is required to create the "thermo" effect of the straigtener. Less than a straigtener, it is more like a brush. In addition, using a hair dryer does not create enough heat to make a real difference in hair style. I'd suggest staying away from this and invest in a real straightener.
