First, let me say that I have very fine textured hair that is a little below my shoulders so it is pretty easy to straighten with any flat iron. My trouble has been that after an hour (even with product & hairspray) it will become wavy again. There was definitely a noticeable difference using this tool. My hair did not frizz and stayed much straighter for a longer periid of time.
Also worth noting, it heats up in about 60 seconds and beeps to let you know it has reached the desired setting. You have to hold the power button down for a few seconds to turn it off which is helpful because I was always accidentally hitting it while straightening my hair on my old iron. Another plus, the heating plate rocks so that you don't snag pieces of your hair.
Hope this helps! I love it!As the mother of two daughters with beautiful, strong, and VERY kinky curly hair that reverts within moments of being pressed with a straightening comb I am AMAZED at how well the Remington Shine Therapy flat iron straightened their hair with NO ADDITIONAL PRODUCT used.
Their hair is now just as straight as it would be if I used a relaxer. No lie.
Shiny. Soft. And it lasts for a week. Even after the week, still manageable and combable.
This iron changed our lives for the better.
Seriously.
I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
P.S. I read about it in Good Housekeeping too . . . somebody tell Oprah! :)

I have pretty curly hair but I thought I would give this a try after seeing the reviews in Good Housekeeping (got the seal of approval). I had trouble finding it b/c everyone was sold out of it but I got it today and so far I love it. I straightened all of my hair in less than 10 minutes from being curly. I must add that I was in the steamy bathroom while my shower was running and it did not phase my hair. I gets supper hot, I love the digital display, and the power off function is great so you don't turn it off by mistake. It also gets hot really fast-almost immediately. I think it is certainly worth the $50; especially considering the Chi is $100+.First, let me start by saying that I NEVER write product reviews. Did I say NEVER?That being established, this is the most amazing product ever!!!
I have tried every single flat iron imaginable.
Yes, I've tried the Chi, Paul Mitchell, and all the other brand name, high dollar irons. But, none of them even compare to the technology in this one! No matter how high the heat setting, with all the other irons, any heat outside, humidity, rain, etc ruined my hair within SECONDS. I could literally have perfectly straight hair and walk outside and the ends would flip out or I would get frizzy, etc. It's just about driven me to the brink of insanity and definitely made me believe that a QUALITY product existed on the flat iron market!
Until now.
I'll admit, I was super-skeptical after all these bad experiences and money spent...I had almost given up and accepted that my hair would never be straight and pretty like other people's. But, upon reading about this product and the reviews, I decided that another $40.00 wouldn't kill me and if it didn't work out, I knew Amazon would take it back SOLD.
The next day after I got it was a rainy day. So, I thought, what better way to test this thing. I read the instructions and followed them...also using flat iron spray to protect my hair (processed and damaged already). Immediately, I noticed that this flat iron was DIFFERENT! It glides through your hair like silk. Every other iron I've ever tried still had some sort of pulling effect on the hair, no matter how carefully you did it. This one was AMAZING. Okay, so I am impressed so far.
I had to go out and run some errands in the light rain and I never use an umbrella. I went to get some groceries and parked a good distance from the store...walked in the rain both in and back out which would have typically rendered my hairstyle an utter mess. Guess what? Still PERFECT not a hair out of place, no curling, no frizz... exactly as it was before I left the comfort of my humidity-free home! Many hours later, as I write this, hair is still in the exact same style as it was when I first did it earlier today!
I always thought that it was just my hair and it very well could be that my hair is just difficult and stubborn, like me! But, this iron proved to be tougher than my hair! It is without a doubt, the best money I have ever spent and I am now excited to do my hair as opposed to dreading having to undertake such a task. I have told my friends and recommended it to everyone today and will continue to do so. The four year warranty was also a huge plus my other, more expensive and less effective irons had a one year warranty at best. One that I paid over $150 for, completely fell apart one day with just normal use.
I am very, very satisfied and impressed with this product. KUDOS to Remington for creating such a wonderful product!!!!
If you think that you've tried them all and a $40.00 flat iron would never work, much less surpass the others, think again!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this item!!!I purchased this product last week and I am already returning it. I had an HAI flat iron before this that lasted me almost 6 years until I dropped it 2 weeks ago and it decided not to work anymore. My friend bought this flat iron and said it did an amazing job and she loved it. I decided to give it a try and bought it. It did a really good job flat ironing my hair but what I did not like about it was the controls being on the outside. I kept hitting buttons and would either turn down the heat or turn up the heat higher than I wanted. This really bugged me. Also I feel like I cant get any tension. It glides so smooth down your hair I can get tension on it to make a slight bend in my hair to curl it under. (I have short hair) This also really bugs me. I curl my hair with my flat iron also and I could not do this with this flat iron. If you want your hair super straight then this is the flat iron for you. But if you like to use a flat iron for texture this might not be for you. I couldnt get a good grip on my hair. I am going to switch back to the HAI iron. A little more pricey but I think its worth it for me.
