Forget the drugstore stuff. This product is worth it! The original formula (#1 in the black box) has been my staple relaxer since introduced. The newer Rusk Str8 is also very good but is a thermal straightener and requires more work. Anticurl works for all hair types. It can be used to tame frizz from straight hair or remove tight curls. Stylists also use this to remove unwanted curly perms. If performed correctly, it does not leave hair super porous like drugstore products. Remember to keep the hair straight with a wide tooth comb throughout the process and not to leave stage 1 on too long. The other review mentions that the product leaves an odor. Most chemicals used to change hair texture will leave an odor if you do not properly neutralize. Neutralization is so important because failure to do so is what leads to damage, breakage, hair loss, etc. My stylist shampoos between the 1st and 2nd phases, while taking care to keep the hair straight with a wide tooth comb, to help ensure proper neutralization.

My hair is very curly and even more curly towards the back and underneath...i went to salon and had it applied so the application process was not an issue...yet this product did nothing..my hair was exactly the same. It did not lessen straightening time nor did it tame frizz. like i said did nothing at all.not worth it if you are looking for something to make your curls more like waves this is not the product to bother with.

I don't know if it's the problem with my hair or my procedure, but the product didn't really work for me. My hair is normally frizy and they tend to curl at the root. I permed my hair straight about eight months ago, but my hair got longer and it was starting to curl from the roots. I wanted to use this product to straighten my hair. It seemed like it was working after I washed off the first solution, my hair was extremely straight at that time. However, after I straighten it with my straightener, applied the second solution, and washed it off, my hair went back to exactly how it was originally. So it didn't work for me. I wasted 2-3 doing this.. I don't know if it was because my hair was permed before. However, to those of you that still have your natural hair, I would recommend this to you to try.
