Buy ISO Maintamer Straightening System (Kit) Now
I love ISO Products, and Mainetamer is a great product for making my curly hair more manageable. I gave up going completely straight years ago after using relaxers. I was tired of the burned scalp and my hair breaking off at the new growth. This product has helped me greatly with managing my hair. Goodbye, burned scalp and hello silky, smooth hair.Read Best Reviews of ISO Maintamer Straightening System (Kit) Here
I've used several protein straightening systems, (like Brazil blow-out so expensive!), and I was hoping this would be a great solution, but I got so-so results. Maybe 40-50% improvement? First of all, once you open the directions, you find out you need to use a clarifying shampoo (I bought one at a drugstore), and the ISO Tamer Foam Smoother, which I then purchased. I used an actual timer. After shampooing you leave Step 1 on for about 15-20 min., according to your hair type. Comb out. Long hair will be hard to comb, even with wide-toothed comb, but mine wasn't too bad. RInse for 10 min. Apply Step 2. Leave on a certain am't of time (5 min.?), combing through to straighten it. That part felt very soft. Rinse for another 5 min. Mine was just starting to feel slightly squeaky clean. Use Iso foam, then blow-dry. I hate to blow-dry till it's smooth. That's why I tried this. Mine was a little better than usual, but not as silky smooth as I wanted. I used John Frieda heat protect on my dry hair (meant for damp hair) and my InStyler. Hair is smoother than it has been, but not 100% difference. I think the John Frieda makes more of a difference getting my hair smooth than this product does. I have color-treated (to highlight) blonde hair, almost down to bra strap. Probably only used half the product, surprisingly. Hair has gotten slightly drier and coarser through the years. Now frizzes some, especially on rainy days. This did help some, but I'm using the same routine I did before, so not as helpful as I'd hoped. I'd have given it 3 and a half stars if that had been an option. It worked great... Except it fried my hair. You should not use this product on chemically treated hair. I color my hair, had the product on for 5 min and noticed my hair looked like it was "fraying". I rinsed and neutralized. It was very strait. Just not shiny and pretty.

I have the thickest, wiry, frizzy, strangest hair in the world, it's so thick it's not hair, it's rope! And on top of it I live in Florida. I've done years of expensive keratin treatments and couldn't stand it anymore so used ManeTamer with a self application. It was awesome! Lasted almost 6 months! Retreatment is a bit touchy because it will fry already treated hair, I was told to wrap the hair strands previously processed with coconut oil, and plan on trying that next time!!!
