Andis 62390 Aero Straight to the Root 1-inch Ceramic Flat Iron

Andis 62390 Aero Straight to the Root 1-inch Ceramic Flat IronI just got this as a gift through my Amazon Wishlist. I chose this brand because we have another Andis straightener (http://www.amazon.com/Andis-67180-Ceramic-Multi-Temperature/dp/B001UE7D28/ref=sr_1_cc_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1325155345&sr=1-2-catcorr) and it works great, but my daughters use it upstairs and I wanted one for myself downstairs.

I've used the Aero three times now, and each time it left my hair (my bangs) pointing out at this odd angle. I thought maybe the heat was too high, so I tried it at different levels (20 down to 15 down to 10) but if I go below 15, it is not hot enough to do anything. I thought it might be my technique (it is a different shape than the other Andis we have) so I tried different techniques (it says to use it only on dry hair, but I tried it on wet, damp, and dry), but I got the same exact result.

It makes my hair look like it's fried, and no matter what I do I can't get rid of the little "curl" at the ends (I put quotes around the word "curl" because it was more like a kink that you see in a garden hose.. not flattering at all).

This morning was the third time I used it, and to see if it was the iron and not just me or my hair, I went upstairs and used the old Andis. I attempted to salvage what the Aero had done by just going over it with the old Andis, and it did get rid of that kink at the ends and that odd angle was almost completely gone (it was also a lot shinier!) but it wasn't up to par. So I wet my bangs again and then used it (while it was wet, which I often do) and lo and behold! It did exactly what I wanted it to do! My bangs looked great.

So it's not me. The Aero is just a crappy product!

I have to look into the return information now. Thank goodness I saved the box. It does have a 5-year warranty according to the box.

I agree with previous review. It do not add smooth texture to hair. but is good for edges and a good circluar curl. If you want good curls with a flat iron, then buy this one.

Gets pretty hot, but does not glide down hair smoothly at all. Leaves hair looking like straw. I bought a flat iron from cortex international at Marshalls for $30 that works soooo much better.

this flat iron is too long for most fingers. hair also gets caught easily in the plates. not the best for shirly temple curls
