I love this flat iron, as a black woman, it is difficult to find something that will give my hair that smooth shiny look without burning it. I love this flat iron because it makes my hair so silky and shiny, allows it to move and it doesn't burn and damage my hair (it actually looks healthier than ever!). I actually spent four times as much on it at the mall last year, and I loved it then, but it stopped working a year later. It is such a good flat iron, I immediately went online looking for it and to my surprise, found it for significantly less money. I got it and works great, I am telling everyone I know to buy one.
1. It only has an off/on switch. There are no temperature controls. It gets very hot so if you have fragile hair or processed hair, I don't think not having a temp control is such a good idea.
2. The grip is cumbersome and it takes a quite a bit of effort to press the 2 plates together. This is especially tiring if you have long hair, like me.
3. The cord is heavy and the swivel that attaches the cord to the iron is very positional. Not having that swivel in the exact upright position causes the iron to fall over.
4. It claims to be a "silk" type of iron. I find the iron to do a very good job at straightening my hair. I did not have a burnt hair smell like some other irons I have used. My hair comes out very straight and shiny, but I do use heat protectors and leave in products to protect my hair.
Overall, for the price, this iron is an excellent choice. I do not know if one could depend on this being their "main" iron, but it is definitely a good choice for travel and occassional use. I only flat iron my hair once or twice a week, so I think I can deal with its few defects. Hope this helps! :)

Ok, maybe not an addict as my kids give me a chance to straighten my hair maybe twice a month, but I still LOVE this ISO iron. Mine was a black one, btw. This is by far the best flat iron I have purchased. It curls, straightens, flips. I have very fine hair. Usually curls would not stay on my hair for more than 20 mins. But with this one, curls stay for at least a day..with out any hairspray. Its unbelievable. The price is amazing too. I've had this flat iron since Feburary 2009. I am always loving this flat iron.It gets hot very fast. I am an asian girl with blow shoulder long hair, I can get my hair done in 10-15 minutes, either straighten or culed it. It does great job on my hair. My hair looks shine and smooth! Just like i got my hair done in a professional hair slon, but without spending that kind of money!
I also like the 1" size, it is light and easy to control.
