Buy Solia Professional Ceramic Ion Flat Iron (1-3/4")Solia Now
I bought this straightener May 2006 and it is still working. I reasearched different straighteners for a long time and finally decided on the Solia. Before I had a Vidal Sassoon straightener, and it would take me about 1 hour and 30 minutes to straighten my hair. I have very, very thick, wavy hair and when I purchased this straightener I was under the impression that if you had very thick hair it would make your hair appear thinner and less fat. This is not true. My hair gets definitely straight in about 30 minutes. But my hair still appears very thick.
When I bought this and received this product, I didn't use any product. That was a mistake. From the get go you shouold use products like:
Chi 44 Iron Guard
Nexxuz Heat Protexx HAet Styling Spray
Thermasilk straight and smooth styling cream
These products work very, very well to protect your hair against heat styling damage. Hope this review is helpful to you!

this is a very good straightener and it definitely straightens but it won't make your hair appear less fat and invasive. BE SURE TO USE PRODUCTS WITH THIS STRAIGHTENER

I purchased the Solia in March 2006 after an extensive research of the reviews on Folica.com. I thought that the Solia iron was good, it heated up super fast, maintained consistent heat, never snagged and produced fairly smooth results (varies with the hair products used as well as the build up in the hair), however, by no means did I consider it as top of the line. After 2 years the red "on" indicator light began to flicker on and off when the iron was shifted during use... a sure indication that it was approaching its end, and 3 weeks later I smelled the acrid scent of burning components and my Solia was history. I guess nothing lasts forever so I overall did get my $85 worth out of it. This time I'm splurging a bit more and buying a FHI Runaway which is what my stylist uses and it ALWAYS produces such beautiful results....soft, silky and shiny hair for many days.Want Solia Professional Ceramic Ion Flat Iron (1-3/4")Solia Discount?
This flat iron helped in my transition from relaxed to natural. I have dry, coarse, thick, kinky natural ethnic hair. My hair is kinkier in the back and top of my hair. The front has a looser texture. I learned the hard way that I needed to reduce the heat when I flat iron the 2 inch section surrounding my hairline. This iron heats up fast and you MUST use a thermal protector, I started out using Ojon Restorative Treatment (in the tub). I now use Wen products. I flat ironed on the highest temperature, 450 when I used Ojon.,.yes, this flat iron allows you to control the temperature. I burned my hairline but I've learned from my mistakes. Now that I use Wen products (cleansing conditioner, oil, styling creme, mist) I've noticed the products are softer, not as heavy/greasy as Ojon and I can actually lower the temperature to appx 400, 370 for my hairline.
If I use 450, my hair looks like a new relaxer. I blow dry it to loosen the curl which causes me to use less "sweeps" of flat ironing. My hair is about 2 inches past my shoulders, very thick and I have a lot of it. ironically my hair is the healthiest it's ever been (I cleanse and flat iron every 7 10 days). Using the right hair care products is key. Try Wen. It's sold here but you get a better deal w/QVC if you buy their kits. Start with the Fig kit.
I purchased my first Solia flat iron in 2007, when it began to shut off on its own I had to replace it. I dropped it on ceramic tile multiple times, who knows how long it would have lasted if I hadn't dropped it? Good luck.
