This has to be the best purchase I've made all year. I have unrelaxed, coarse hair. I have both a Chi and an Infrashine iron and neither get my hair as soft and straight as this iron. Plus, it costs less than either of them. I was trying to get away from going to the salon every 2 wks b/c of the time and money, and finally, I may be able to do it. It heats up to 460 degrees which works well for those of us w/ thick, natural hair. Just don't forget your heat protectant. I use it along w/ morroccan oil. It glides through my hair very easily. You won't have to press really hard or go over the sections many times. It's thin too so you can get to your roots pretty well. It also has an auto shut-off after an hour, so you won't have to worry about forgetting to turn it off. The case does get pretty hot though, so just be careful about that.

I just want to start off by saying that my hair is in its natural African-American afro state, and I just wanted a flat iron to use if I want to go out with a straighter look. Well... well... well...!!! IT IS AWESOME!!! I'm not kidding! First of all, it is very easy to handle and light weight, and though I have to run the flat iron over the hair a few times, it comes out soft and smooth! Just make sure you use something to protect the hair from general heat damage, like a hair polisher or something. Also, don't start off on the highest heat setting just because your hair may be coarse. Start off somewhere in the middle and then adjust as necessary. This is a wonderful flat iron!
