Frederic Fekkai Coiff Controle Ironless Straightening Balm

Fekkai Advanced Ironless Silky Straight Straightening Balm-3.4 ozI wanted so much to love this new product, and I hate to say I am disappointed. At first, it did help easily straighten my naturally wavy hair. However, after I was done putting on my make up, I needed to go over my hair with a flat iron. Once the weather became rainy, my hair immediately became wavy again. Straight Away, also by Frederic Fekkai, is a much better product. When I use Straight Away, my hair remains smooth even in humid and rainy weather. I am a big Frederic Fekkai fan and I would never give a bad review, but this product was not what I expected.

Now, this still can't compete with a Chi Iron (what can?), but it definitely helps reduce the time it takes to straighten your hair. I will buy again!

I use this product for special occasions, since I don't really have problematic hair. My hair is naturally wavy, and shoulder length but the bottom 4 inches are technically fried from an old bleach/color. I usually just wash and go (no conditioner). I don't mind wavy hair but if I would to make it straight, I just go at it with the flat iron (no hair dryer). I tried this iron less straightening balm as a balm directly on my air dried hair and went over it with the flat iron. The end result was exactly what I get from a professional blowout. It's much better than the result I get from the flat iron alone (pin straight but blah). With this balm I get volume. When I woke up the next morning, I couldn't believe how beautiful my hair looked, it almost seems like I have more hair not in a puffy way tough. I am impressed. Yes I did use the flat iron:) and not the hair dryer, but seriously the result was awesome. I would still reserve it for special occasions, since it's quite costly and I have long hair. But again I had tried years ago many brands from L'Oreal to Bed head and they always have this yucky sticky feeling. This is more like a thick milk, non sticky non greasy and you can see as you apply that it loosened up the waves/curls. Even my fried ends looked polished. I didn't give it 5 stars, because I am not sure it would have given me this result without the iron. But again I didn't use the hair dryer. And since all other reviewers here seem unhappy, I think it should say on the bottle: Increase the power of your flat iron or something along that....not iron less.

This bottle seems like a small amount of product for $25.. But a little goes a long way, I have to have it! Its a creme that applies easily with a pump. I have fairly straight hair but it gets bushy and dull. I prefer it to be sleek and flat/ this stuff gives shine and a look that nothing else has done.. other than 20 minutes with a stylist.. I am done in 10 or less.. Generally my hair is dry when I remember to put it on, no problem. I use a flat iron and a liitle sprtiz of water or steam. It does work without the iron but pulling a few sections.. is better, shinier, and lasts longer. Just a little going over with the flat iron seams to seal the deal..and lasts much longer that way. Also, this product holds perfectly in muggy steamy/muck weather. Fekkai also has several great volume sprays that really make flat hair fuller even near the scalp, and overall. It just depends on what you want. I have wasted a lot of money on salon products, the stylists always push their stuff. This is all I need.
