This flat iron was rated highly by the famous product testing organization. It has nice features, but I don't think it does as good a job as my little Hot Tools unit. It may because of the wide plates, but the grip is too large for me and my hand gets tired holding it. I like that the outside doesn't get too hot, so you can actually hold it to make for a better press on the hair, but that doesn't help much. It doesn't straighten my hair that well. Granted, I have tough hair, coarse and curly, but my Hot Tools iron works just fine. It may be the tourmaline plates? They really do make the iron glide. They just don't seem to flatten out the cuticle as they are supposed to, and they really don't knock down the body like I'd expect. If you have fine hair that's sensitive to irons, I'm sure this would be a great product for you. For me, I kinda wish I hadn't thrown away the packaging so fast, so I could've returned it.Great product. I have major curly hair and very thick and it took less time and effort with this than others I have bought and used.My first flat iron just wasn't cutting it, plus the tip of it broke off. This is my second flat iron, and it works wonderfully. I love how I can use the right temperature for my hair type (fine, wavy), and it makes my hair so smooth and silky! I don't know how the more expensive ones work, but I'll bet they cannot beat this one! I highly recommend it.
