Jose Eber Petite Ceramic .5" Hair Straightener

Jose Eber Petite Hair StraightenerMy hair is medium length, wavy and slightly coarse. It is not very difficult to straighten. I was looking for a travel flat iron and knew that I'd have to compromise on speed/quality due to the small size. For this iron to work at all on my hair I have to do only a few strands at a time and wait between each pass for the iron to heat up again. If you are only interested in a iron that will straighten your bangs this will work. Otherwise keep looking.

This little flat iron worked great for me until I lost it on a trip last month. I used it for about 6 months prior which I feel is a decent period for an evaluation. I have really short hair and I used it to style my bangs which are 5 in long and the rest of my hair which is 0.5 to 2 in long. Even with such short hair, it worked great. However, the plates were slightly offset to the side (the overlap was not complete) and they met at a bit of an angle (and I mean very small) so the plates were tighter together at the front than towards the back where the handle is. This is why I knocked off a starthe design could have been a little better. The temp was good I have very fine thin bleached hair and it only felt slightly drier than without any heat styling.

No temp regulation, an on/off switch, and a very long cord.

Hair did not get caught in the plastic casing.

Handle did not get too hot while using.

Worked just as well in Europe (of course you will need the plug converter which costs like 2 bucks, but other than that you're good).

The object feels solid, no rattling parts, no cheap plastic feel.

I have the 1" Jose Eber, which is also a fabulous product, but I took this one to France recently and it worked wonders! At first, I was skeptical of the dual voltage (it does not have a switch, it just converts automatically), but did not notice any difference in heat from the US to Europe. The only problem I could see would be a time crunch while the tiny size is perfect to pack in a suitcase, it takes a bit longer than larger irons to work through my long, curly hair. That's quite all right, though, because I had beautiful, silky hair the whole time I was in Paris!

This flat iron is tiny, it was even smaller than I expected and it looks like a toy for your daughter's doll but don't be fooled it's worth it weight and then some. It heats up fast and does fantastic curls that hold. It is compact enough to take in a clutch or purse for quick touch ups. I also have the 1" by John Eber ($25) that I bought for my daughetr, I was impressed with that as well, it worked as good as my $260 FHI, and I've since stopped using my FHI. Oh don't forget it's also dual voltage, for those trips to Europe and elsewhere!
