I have wavey to lightly curly hair. I straightened only my bangs with the product because basically I like my curls, just not on my bangs, where they have always bothered me, especially in the summer when swimming or exercising in humid climates. After reading the reviews, I was a little apprehensive and sceptical about what I could expect. However, I used the product on my color-treated hair, and the result was just what I had hoped for: stick-straight bangs!! I can hardly believe that the solution to a problem which has haunted me for the past 35 years (!) could be so easy, quick, and cheap.
Here are some tips on how to make it work best for wavy hair:
Get a fine-toothed comb (I used one for lice treatment which has very fine teeth), because for just wavy, and not curly, hair, the comb supplied in the kit will not pull the waves straight enough, they just slide through, and the result will be disappointing. I actually used also my fingers to gently pull and squeeze my hair straight, always checking in the mirror for "perfect" straightness/alignment (don't pull hard as this will cause the hair to stretch and eventually break after drying).
Work in sections and ask someone for help if you have thick, very short or very long hair, as the combing and pulling ist quite a job.
Straightening just a section of your hair, e.g. bangs, works just fine, but use an old headband to hold the rest of the hair back, and protect it from the straightening lotion with a little bit of petroleum jelly and the headband. Be careful not to soak the headband, especially during rinsing, as this will leak through to the hair which you don't want to have straightened. Perhaps use some Glad Wrap around the headband to prevent soaking through in that case.
Rinse out the straightening lotion very thoroughly and over the full recommended 7 minutes, even if you are only using the product on your bangs. Keep combing and gently pulling the hair straight, during rinsing and as long as the neutralizer is on your hair.
I blow-dried my bangs after straightening, as I always do, maybe this also improves the results a bit.
And if you are thinking of straightening your hair several times over the coming years, get one of those hand-held shower heads with a hose. They can also be mounted on the faucet on your sink, which is more convenient for straightening just a section of your hair (bangs). This is a good investment if you don't like to step in the shower three times in a row.
I did not notice any damage to my hair, although I imagine if you treat it 2, 3 or more times, some damage (similar to that to be expected when getting it permed multiple times) will occur (always did on my hair with the second perm already, but I guess with shorter hair (like my bangs), this will be less of an issue). I will definitely use the product again and hope it will be available in stores for a long time in the future!

I use this every May and it keeps my hair pretty straight all summer long. If I let it air dry, it's still kind of frizzy, but if I blow it dry and use my large curling iron, it stays straight in humidityeven in drizzle. My bangs don't curl! It's not fun to apply I have to rinse it so long I run out of hot water and it is smelly, but it is so worth it. Don't put it in your hair right before a special occasion, though the first week it hangs pretty flat and bodyless. But after a week or two you will love it. I couldn't find it in the stores this year, so I used a regular perm and combed it straight (which I used to do before I discovered the straightener). It didn't turn out nearly as well, so now I have to put up with it for three months and pray that the summer isn't very humid. From now on I will order it online.Want Ogilvie Conditioning Hair Straightener: For All Hair Types Discount?
I used this product three days ago, my package had a differet model on it though. Today I washed my hair after the 48 hr rule. I have to say that it actually worked pretty well. I applied it myself and the gloves made it hard to apply evenly and tangled my hair. I eventually took the gloves off to apply the rest of the steps. My hair has a few kinks in it because I have medium/long hair and it was harder to keep the front of my hair straight. It did smell some, but after I rinsed it out it was fine. I will use it again in three months!
