Maxiglide Sonicglide Hair Straightener

I've owned my Maxiglide since 2004! This product is so great. It can leave your hair very straight or if you want some body or big curls (as I do), it can do that too without using a curling iron. Another good thing about it is, it's almost impossible to burn your head or hands since it has a protector of some kind and you can literally bring the iron to your roots or even pull on it with your hands from the base. Every time I straighten my hair, I always get positive compliments and when I do it with the body/curls, they can't believe it was done from a straightener, they just can't believe that I didn't use a curling iron!

It's not your typical straightener, so it may be a bit bigger than most straighteners on the market today, but it really is worth the money. Again, I've had mine for almost 10 years and it still works like new!

Pros: No burns, straightens flat or gives nice body/big curls, steam button to lock in moisture (if you chose to use it, I do, it really makes a difference)

Cons: cleaning. Because of the design, it can be a little hard to clean if you don't have the proper cleaning agent. I use a professional cleaner from the beauty supply store and it does the job just fine.

Highly recommended. You will not regret it.

I was so happy to see this item on Amazon. I have non-relaxed, natural, thick hair that comes to the small of my back. So for me, any Maxius Styling tool is an absolute life saver. (I had to resort to the Miniglide, when my last Styling Tool just stopped working mid hair. Imagine having half luscious bone straight hair, and then having the other half a lengthy afro...Not a good look. The Miniglide does not get my ends as straight as the tools with the steamburst technology.) I missed out on the limited supply of the Maxiglide Express, sold on the maxiusbeauty.com website earlier this year. Hopefully they will become available again. Honestly, this is my 4th Maxius Steam iron. I have had several versions of thIs tool, over the years...in several different sizes. My previous irons just stopped working or had wiring issues. This one gets the job done. This model looks similar to the last model, but to me, it is much larger. I would prefer the slightly smaller version. I doesn't seem to give off as much steam as my previous irons, so I have to go over ends several times. Also, I have used the vibration button, but just turned it off, because I can't seem to find a real use for it. The automatic shut off button is great. Overall, I am very happy with the iron, hopefully all the kinks have been worked out from the previous version, and this one stands the test of time. Compared to the previous versions, this item is quite pricey, but I am willing to pay the price, as it is a much needed item. Per the instruction sheet, this item has a 1 year warranty. States, Maxius will repair or replace, just cut off and save the holographic Izon logo on the box. So I was about to register my item on the Maxius website, for warranty purposes, and there is no holographic area...just a regular picture. All my other styling tools had the 3D if you will...picture. Box says, Simply tip the Izon label up, down , left and right to reveal the hidden dots on each side. If you can see the dots on each side of the 4 sides, it is authentic. Not sure why, but my box has no dots or holographic Izon logo...Guess I will have to contact Maxius customer service directly regarding my warranty.

I had purchased the original maxi glide years ago but it broke and I got this one( which is suppose to be better). I have course hair and the original maxi glide worked wonders my hair would turn out bone straight. With this sonic glide my hair was a disaster!! This is not made for course natural african American hair. I will be giving this to my niece who has much finer hair.

The first maxiglide I purchased was great it didn't have the problems this one has. This new one I just got is improperly aligned and and pulls and breaks your hair. I now want to return it. I have chosen to go back to flat irons. It is way overpriced and I am not surprised that it is no longer on the market. I am so disappointed.

I bought the original Maxi Glide about ten years ago from one of those TV infomercials.

It did exactly as it stated... the ceramic plates gave my shoulder length medium/coarse hair as super shine and made it incredibly straight. I relax my hair and was able to stop doing that for three years because my Maxi-Glide did such a great job for me... saved tons of money!

I only JUST dropped and broke mine, so I am searching for a new one. The newer models seem lighter and smaller -

I can say of the original...it was about 2 inches wide and 4.5 inches long great for long hair.

I can never understand why people with long hair bother with those 1 inch models... I was able to do my whole head in less than 10 minutes...twice! Having to do so many more sections just seems like a time waster to me.

Great product and I am looking to buy another. Even the ones I have given as gifts have lasted a long time, and the recipients loved them!

Conair Supreme Triple Curling Iron Pack - 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch and 1 inch

I could not resist buying these 3 curling irons even though I only needed/wanted the largest one because ALL 3 cost less than just ONE at our local CVS and beauty product stores. However, you get what you pay for. The iron takes way too long to heat up and, even at full heat, does not get super hot. As a result, it doesn't actually curl hair well. Mine will not hold a curl for very long (if at all) when I use these irons. I'd advise spending the extra money for a better-quality curling iron.

I did not like these curlers at all. They did not heat up enough and they just did not work. The only reason I did not send them back is because I destroyed the package (will never do that again). Very disappointed

If your hair is already curly or wavy this product is great for adding some more structure or calming frizz, but it doesnt work well on straight hair. They take a really long time to heat up and they don't even get very hot. If you do end up using this product i recommend using a lot of hair spray or mousse.

It works fine my problem is that it doesn't have and on and off switch, you just have to plug it on to use and unplug when finish but then again you get what you pay for

Don't make the mistake of trusting a name brand simply because you've had a good experience with a company's products in the past. I had to learn the hard way that not all Conaire products are created equally. This product nearly ruined my wedding because none of the curling irons heated adequately and, after 40+ minutes of struggling to no avail, had to be replaced before the stylist could work any further. Thanks to this wholly unanticipated problem, the ceremony started off much later than it should have! For slightly more money buy the Vidal Sassoon set of three curling irons in similar sizes (if you can find them). They heat up faster and hotter, which probably stems from the fact that the wattage is higher. A curling iron has only one function; it's not rocket science. This set of curling irons will make you crazy especially if you intend to use them in preparation for an important event. TIP: Look on the barrel of the curling iron for the WATTAGE (it will be hard to read but it's there). Avoid the lower wattage versions. It's the equivalent of purchasing the "child safe" version of the real thing. Come to think of it, perhaps Conaire anticipated that this glittery grape purple set of curling irons would appeal most to tweens and teens and that's why they are so underpowered. In any event, it's not "you" and it's not your hair. It's the product. It doesn't work. Don't buy it.

So, Im not to pleased at all to find out this FHI Platform may not be authentic. When i rec'd this item on 3/1/13 I was egaer to use it. After the initial few flips on my hair with this styling tool i realized that some of the white lettrerings had rubbed off.I called the Official FHI website, and the rep stated that Amazon is not an official retailer of theres.. only beautychoice.com, and that if something happened to the flatiron I have no warranty at all. I will contact Amazon directly in regards to this matter... once I locate their phone number.

My hairdresser uses this flat iron and I loved how it made my hair straight and silky. I got one for home and was quite happy that I got the same results at home as I did at the salon. My hair is natural and I don't have to work hard at all to straighten it. I like that it has an adjustable temperature control, my hair is fine in texture so too high of a setting could burn it easily. I love love this flat iron!

My girlfriend used the iron right after she opened it to go to our families Christmas parties. After the last one, she turned to me and said " touch my hair, it's still smooth, I have no fly aways and my hair is not tangled." After 7 hours of kids and relations, I think that says a lot about the quality.

Last year I purchased an Enzo MIlano curling iron. After it arrived I plugged it in and waited...and waited...and waited. While the light came on it did not heat up, ever! I contacted Enzo Milano CS and was told to ship it back to them in CA and they would check it out and get in touch with me. I sent it priority mail and it arrived in CA about four days later. I got this flat iron from a hair show. I paid $30 for it and that was the worst $30 I have ever spent. At first, the flat iron worked great, but after about 1-2 months, I noticed my hair was starting to become frizzy at the ends and looked like it was being burned. When my hair stylist saw how bad my hair had been burnt, she said there was nothing to do but cut it all off. I went from having amazingly smooth and silky hair, to having such horrible damage. The damage (burnt hair) is all over, and my stylist just has to keep cutting more and more off with each visit.
