This straightener is AMAZING. I have very thick, very wavy hair and have been at war with it for about 10 years. This straightener is fantastic. I am not sure WHY the vibration makes it work better but it definitely seems like it does. It is not cheap obviously, but it is definitely the best in its class for a product in this price range. If you have thin or only slightly wavy hair, it might not be worth the investment, but if you have especially thick or coarse hair, this product will be a revelation.

I do not own this straightener, however, my hair stylist does use it on me. I LOVE IT! I have short, wavy hair and it glides through my hair effortlessly and leaves it shiny and very "pretty". I will be saving my $$ to get one because it does not compare to the one I have at home, which pulls my hair and leaves my hair feeling dry and looking dull. This product is well worth the money and I agree with the previous review...the vibration somehow or another does make a huge difference. Enjoy this product....I do! :)

While I didn't buy the straightener from Amazon, I feel compelled to write a review because it's so amazing.

I have coarse, thick, frizzy, naturally curly hair. Blow drying (which I always do before straightening) makes it hugely poofy. My stylist used this Brocato straightener on me, and not only did my hair look and feel soft, sleek, and super straight, the straightness lasted! I can honestly say that after using this straightener, my hair sometimes looks even better the second day! I use the second highest heat setting (420 degrees, I think), and it only takes one or two passes per hair section to get it straight.

I did not buy this flat iron from Amazon, but I do own it. I love it. It is fantastic. I have thick curly hair that is past my shoulders. Whatever the vibrations do, they do a fantastic job! It takes almost half the time I spent before to straighten my hair. And if I go to bed after straightening my hair and don't take my shower until the next night, my hair is still stick straight the way I want it to be without having to get up and straighten it again. If you have the money, it is so worth it to get this flat iron. It will pay for itself and no time.

I like this flat iron as it works really well for my hair textures. I have recently started to transition from relaxed to natural hair and this iron really works for both textures. When using this product to flat iron natural hair be sure to use a smoothing serum with it. First time use of this product is a little confusing due to not having the temperature displayed as degrees on the temperature adjust dial. In order to know what temperature to use be sure to read the instruction guide that comes in the box. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a flat iron that can get really close to the scalp and provide you with a smooth and silky look.

HERSTYLER 1" TOURMALINE FLAT IRON PINK

I bought this as a late Christmas gift for my self after I had read some reviews on the product and I hope that this review is helpful.

This straighter is amazing! It immediately heats, takes no longer than 15 to 30 seconds, and runs smoothly down every solitary piece of your hair. The straightener supposedly shuts off when it heats to quickly, but i have not experienced these problems. Thanks to the 100% ceramic plates infused with tourmaline, the straightener glides down your hair smoothly and doesn't catch, tear, or break any parts of your hair. I absolutely love it and I think that it is a great gift for a teenager or a single young women to use when going out to get glamorous. All I really have to say is Excellent product.

Excellent quality. I have never used a straightener that curls or straightens better than this one....as long as you know what you're doing (I recommend asking your stylist for some tips if you don't). I have noticed that some "gunk" from hair products can get stuck to the edges of the plates when I'm using it for flat iron curls... but you just have to clean it off every once in a while. I've used it at least 3-4 times a week for the past 2 months and I haven't noticed any crumbling. The ceramic plates on my straightener are intact and in nearly perfect condition after 2 months of medium-heavy use.

UPDATE (Jan 22, 2011): almost 3 years later... and it still works like a charm! After multiple drops on the tile floor over 3 years, one corner of one of the plates finally got a chip in it, but it was completely my fault... and it is still fully functional! It has not affected it's quality or use in the least! I have not had any other problems whatsoever, and still love my herstyler! :) You truly cannot get better quality for the price on amazon! When mine finally does burn out or get over-abused, I will definitely, definitely buy another one!!

Karmin Envy Pink Km4000p Titanium Ionic 1" Flat Iron

This straightener just came in a few days ago, and so far, I absolutely love it! the color is a little darker than what the picture shows, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I used to have a remington straightener, but it didn't work very well so I bought this one. I was debating on whether to get a Chi or the Karmin. Some of my friends have chi and it works well, but there is no adjustable heat setting and there have been some reviews saying that it breaks easily. So far, I'm happy with getting this one. My hair is naturally straightish but has some really weird kinks in it. It's also pretty fine, but not super thin.

Pros:

Heats very fast, nice color, straightens well, doesn't damage my hair as much as my old straightener. If you squeeze the plates closer together, the plates kinda go in. Not sure how to explain it, but chi's do the same thing. I also really like how theres an adjustable heat setting and a swivel cord.

Cons:

If you look real closely there are little cracks in the plates. I dont think its a defect and its probably was made that way. it isn't super noticeable, and it doesn't seem to be affecting how well it works, but it's was just a little weird to me.

I have super thick hair and was worried that this iron could not straighten my hair. I was really impressed when it did straighten my hair, I have tried many irons and nothing has worked as well as this flat iron. It left my hair silky smooth and looked healthy. Plus very quick shipping.

all i can say is gets your hair straight pretty quickly..keeps it silky..goes up to 500 degrees so great for african american hair..i love it

The titanium plates pull at my normal type short style hair. Ceramic plates are 100x better on hair. I DO love the 500 degree temp so if it's heat you want then this is your product. But, since the titanium will eventually burn and ruin my hair, I am going to order the Izunami ceramic that heats up to 450.

I have had Herstyler for about 7 years now and every few years I update mine so when I saw this on Amazon for $30 instead of $200 I had to try it out.

Ive already used it twice on myself and once on my moms hair; we both are hispanic but my hair is really thick and frizzy. I'd have to say I have no complaints. I love that I can pick what temp I want, I love how it gets close to the roots, my hair is soft, shiny, less frizzy, and I was happily surprised that it came with a glove for when I want to curl my hair.

Compared to my last Herstyler (Forever), this one gets my hair done a few mins faster, my hair is much softer and it is less frizzy. So its just an extra plus especially since the last time I bought mine in the mall for $150.

The only con I can think of is that since it is small it does take long to do my hair and your hand can get tired (especially your thumb) but in the long run I'd rather it be small for my roots. So you pick and choose which is more important. Oh and this product did Not come with a bag for travel/storage. But the box is nice and you can buy a bag at walmart.

Jilbere Ceramic Tools Porcelain Flat Iron

I have had my Jilbere hair straightener for a few years now and only use it occasionally. It heats up very quickly and nicely. I have very long, thick hair and the only problem I can see is it pulls my hair badly. I take very small sections of my hair to iron and even with the small sections, it still pulls. This iron needs some guards on both sides of the plates to minimize the pulling.

African American female. 29 years old. Northern VA climate. Chin-length hair is relaxed 4 times/year. I love Jilbere irons. In addition to this 1.5-in flat iron, I also have the 2-in flat iron, the 1-in curling iron, and the 1.5-in curling iron by Jilbere. By far the best results for the price. These irons get extremely hot. Before purchasing this iron today, my other 3 irons have been faithfully working for 4+ years. At different points in time I have used each iron daily. This iron works best on clean, dry hair. If you use styling products to flat iron your hair (serums, oils, spray), and set it to the highest heat settings, you will notice over time that build up will start to accumulate on the iron itself. I'm not sure if this will come off, but Jilbere does make a cleaning pad to address the buildup. Honestly, by the time buildup becomes a problem, you may have already used the iron for several years. I use this iron on the 26 or 28 heat setting with great results (no need to go all the way up to 30). The velvet exterior is helpful because the iron does get extremely hot. Great product. I am very happy with this purchase (as I knew I would be). I am considering purchasing the Jilbere root iron because I would like to relax my hair as few times as possible this year, and I am also considering purchasing the Jilbere steam straightener to try something "new".

This flat iron is REALLY one of the best I've ever had! Being obssessed about my hair, I wont go out without straight hair!! Using a flat iron every day makes flat irons break VERY easily. This one is great for my medium thick, longish, hair and is durable. The ceramic is really smooth too!! What I like about this size is that it is great for ANY hair and it is really light.
