I bought this item in October of 2011 and not even one year later the iron does not heat up. I called Conair and they told me that I would have to pay to ship the damaged item to them and also send them a check for $5 to have a new one shipped to me (3 weeks later, still waiting for the new iron). So much for a 5 year warranty. Stay far away!!!

This flat iron was rated highly by the famous product testing organization. It has nice features, but I don't think it does as good a job as my little Hot Tools unit. It may because of the wide plates, but the grip is too large for me and my hand gets tired holding it. I like that the outside doesn't get too hot, so you can actually hold it to make for a better press on the hair, but that doesn't help much. It doesn't straighten my hair that well. Granted, I have tough hair, coarse and curly, but my Hot Tools iron works just fine. It may be the tourmaline plates? They really do make the iron glide. They just don't seem to flatten out the cuticle as they are supposed to, and they really don't knock down the body like I'd expect.If you have fine hair that's sensitive to irons, I'm sure this would be a great product for you. For me, I kinda wish I hadn't thrown away the packaging so fast, so I could've returned it.Great product. I have major curly hair and very thick and it took less time and effort with this than others I have bought and used.My first flat iron just wasn't cutting it, plus the tip of it broke off. This is my second flat iron, and it works wonderfully. I love how I can use the right temperature for my hair type (fine, wavy), and it makes my hair so smooth and silky! I don't know how the more expensive ones work, but I'll bet they cannot beat this one! I highly recommend it.

As a hairdresser I was looking for something new that would give better results than the other products on the market. After reading some reviews I decided to buy it and I don't regret it. This is what I was looking for and I will keep using until something better comes up. Highly recommend it!
MY hair is EXTREMELY thick and almost down to my waist. My hair is also wavy and EXTREMELY frizzy. The tools I used were a tourmaline plate straightener cranked up to 450 degrees. I also used an IONIC blow dryer. Gloves and face masks are required with this product. Instead of a bowl I portioned out the Instant Restore bottle no 2 on a Dixie paper plate. This made it much easier to determine how much product to use on each section of the hair. Also instead of an application brush I just used a fine tooth comb to apply and spread the product.
I have tried other lower priced Keratin Treatments with mild success. Other products make my hair softer and less tangled but I still had to blow dry and then straight iron my hair to get the waves out. Plus I still had some frizz. I was hesitant to try this product because of the price but I had the extra cash so I gave it a whirl. Bottle 1 was simple, I mean it's just shampoo your hair over and over until the bottle is gone. I had someone else apply bottle 2 for me (it was just easier this way). Make sure you use the face masks in a well-ventilated area because the fumes are bad. Also be careful getting this on your face because if you have sensitive skin like me it will burn a little. This is where the variation in directions comes in. Instead of immediately blow drying after the application of bottle 2 like the manufacturer states, I followed Amazon's directions and let it sit for 20 minutes. After letting it sit I used my blow dryer and instead of trying to brush through my hair (because it was VERY difficult to do so), I just used my hands instead. Then I followed the Amazon directions and ran the flat iron at least 10 times over the hair (again face mask and well-ventilated area is a must). Then the last variation of directions was the temperature of water while rinsing bottle 2 out of the hair. I did follow the manufacturer's directions on this one. Instead of room temperature like Amazon said I did it with cold water.
Like I stated before, I was really skeptical about this product because I have had mediocre results with less expensive versions of this product. In the end I have to say that I AM VERY IMPRESSED! When I bowed dried my hair the last time after bottle 3 with my fingers only I have to say that I didn't think it was going to work. However, my hair came out soft straight and with NO FRIZZ! Granted I have only had this product in for 24 hours, still I am loving this system so far. As with other Keratin Treatments I am going to use Sulfate-Free, Sodium Chloride-Free Keratin shampoo and conditioner as is recommended. I just hope it lasts for a while because the process is tedious but hopefully well worth the effort. I will post updates as time goes by to verify the stamina of the product remaining consistent in the hair.

This kit contains:
Clean Shampoo No. 1, No. 2 Instant Restore and Finish Balm No. 3.
Action:
Intensive Nourishing Treatment Thermo which promotes the strengthening of the hair fiber, reducing intelligently and effectively the volume of the fibers.
Directions for use:
Step 1:
Wash hair in warm water with shampoo Clean # 1 Kera-X System for up to 4 times. Note the regions behind the ear and neck.
Step 2:
Completely dry hair with the aid of a hot dryer. At this stage, it is not necessary to brush. Only untangle the fibers after drying.
Step 3:
Divide the hair into four parts. From forehead to nape and ear to ear.
Step 4:
Put enough of the Instant Restore No. 2 Kera-X System in a plastic container. With a brush, start the application lock to lock, the neck, going toward the top of the head (the hair should be just moistened by the product).
NOTE: The product should be applied there 1cm root.
Step 5:
Again divide the hair into four parts and start the brush in fibers, lock to lock. After brushing that area of the head, resume application of Instant Restore No. 2 Kera-X System on the sides of the head, and continue brushing. Make sure all the hair is completely dry.
Step 6:
After brushed, divide the hair into four parts to start implementing the plank ceramic or porcelain, lock to lock. Pass the plank at least 5 times on each strand, since the tip of the hair shaping in or out.
Step 7:
After completion of the board, wait about ten minutes for the cool hair. Then, take the customer to the sink and rinse the hair thoroughly, preferably with cold water.
NOTE: Do not use shampoo to remove product water only.
Step 8:
In own sink, apply the balm Finish No. 3 Kera-X System, massaging the fibers for about 5 minutes. Comb your hair and rinse again, preferably with cold water.
Step 9:
Dry the hair with your fingers only, without brush, to view the result obtained with the X-Kera Care System.
Warnings and Precautions:
Avoid contact with eyes and skin;
Keep the product in a cool, dry, protected from the sun, heat and humidity;
Keep out of reach of children;
Use strict professional and foreign.

The chemicals were so strong I couldn't keep it on for 2 minutes. My hair feels like straw now. I would not recommend this product to anyone.Product works well. But if u have really thin hair it will look really limp at the end of day. But u can get a dry shampoo, spray it on & ur good to go. It doesn't come with directions in English. But u can see the directions on amazon on the same page u bought it from. I have shoulder-lenght, dark, thick, wavy and mostly unruly hair... a LOT of it! I'm not your average "thick hair person" out there. I'm putting emphasis on this because I want desperate women with this type of hair (who cannot afford to go to the salon often enough to keep it looking nice -> my case!) to know that this little tool made a big difference on my hair. Ordered this blow dryer directly from Amazon because it was supposed to come with a free hot air brush. I received the dryer, but still no signs of the hot air brush. Will try to get it from Amazon, but since the blow drier came in a different box than the one in the picture my guess is that it's no longer in stock and they sent it to me instead of loosing the order completely. Other than that the blow dryer is awesome and it makes my hair feel silky.

Had the same thing happen Ordered Item w/free brush TWICE from Amazon but only dryer came and with different train case. Noone could figure it out. Returned it both times and finally bought it from another online retailer WITH the FREE Hot air brush for the same price as amazon. I am so impressed with this dryer! The power and speed of this blower is awesome. I have long curly fine hair that I have spent half my life trying to tame and de-frizz. This product allows me to dry my hair in 1/2 the time and leaves it shiny and straight. This dryer is the first professional one I've ever purchased. I was hesitant to spent more than $80 on a dryer, but it was worth it. It dries my fine, wavy/curly hair quickly and makes it shiny and soft with little to no fly-aways. My only complaint is that I can't use the hot air on high without blowing a fuse, but I blame that on the old wiring in my house and not the dryer. The cold shot function is cold, and when I use a diffuser on curly days, the heat really helps my hair curl. I would definitely buy this again.
