I have been using the speed waver for about 2 years now. I absolutely love the big curls it makes. You have to be patient and do your hair in sections to get the ideal look. I get so many comments on how beautiful my hair looks when I use this. I read some comments on it burning the hair, if you let it sit on a certain part of your hair for too long it will start smoking and give your hair a burnt smell. I suggest using a heat protector on your hair before hand and making quick krimps in small sections. I use it on the highest setting and the burning smell has only happened a few times to me. I would also recommend a great shampoo and conditioner, and actually leave the conditioner on about 10 minutes before washing it out. This is an amazing tool, but like the flat iron or curling irons, it's not great for your hair so you need to take extra special care of it while using this.

i loved this tool for the first four months i had it. with the exception of no outer coating, so i'd burn my ears here and there, but after four months i plugged it in and it won't turn on anymore. sad face. now i'm looking for a deep waver replacement

I purchased this upon recommendation from a friend with naturally wavy hair. I have very long (halfway down my back, all one length), stick-straight, fair but thick hair. I can make beachy waves in my hair with this curler/waver in about 15 minutes. Start at the bottom with most of your hair pinned up, then pull down sections and run the waver through. It takes a bit of trial and error to get the waves "right "(e.g., you must pull it through at the right lenght, then relax the hold while you wave the next section so it doesn't pull out the first "wave") but I mastered it in one/two uses. The waves/curls stay in all day unbelievable for my hair! So much better than a curling iron, when my curls/waves fall flat in an hour. LOVE it and will definitely use this! A great price at $20 too.
