It is not the worst flat iron I have owned.I thought I would be able to use this as a flat iron and curler. I was disappointed as the picture makes it appear as the outside plates heat as well. Unfortunately they are not plates,just the outside colored similar as the plates. I was also disappointed that as pictured the iron is somewhat rounded but it does not clamp together tight enough to hold the hair in place to use as a curling iron also. The plus side it does get really hot really fast. If you use oils in your hair it does smoke quite a bit. I guess it was a value for the price I paid, if you are in need of a quick replacement flat iron and don't have the time to shop around it is fine. I would have given higher rating but I was expecting more.
