I have had this iron for 4 or 5 years now..I use it all the time to curl or straighten my hair.It doesn't burn your hair, the plates dont chip off and I havent had any problems with it shorting out so far (knock on wood).
The longest a flat iron has ever lasted me was 1 1/2 years at best..
This is defiantly worth every penny.
