During my childhood (20-25 yrs ago), I had an "old-school" barber who used this on my hair. Within minutes, my dull hair (possibly due to many hours playing outside without hat) looked much shinier and better moisturized. I recall him saying, "do you see how dark your hair just got?". After finishing high school and moving off to college, I picked a new barber who didn't use this. I looked for it and it was widely available in stores (like WMT) for a while, but I can't find it anymore. I'm a male who uses this as pre-wash before shampoo. I can tell the difference in moisture/sheen once I'm done. haven't tried it on any skin or nails. If you've ever used this before, you know how it smells. Very strong and very distinct, as you might expect from astringent. This smell is my only complaint, but the aroma does seem to diminish with use of a styling gel or dressing/pomade. I would recommend this for those with coarse, naturally dry hair. With regular use, it definitely gets rid of the dry scalp.
