Got a prompt replacement from the seller, and so far have mixed feelings.
Pros:
Multiple heat settings (a rare feature in travel straighteners)
Ceramic plates are on a springy base, so they're always held perfectly flat against hair
Long cord for ease of use
Heats up in about 15-30 seconds
Fits in the palm of your hand. Great for carry-ons
Perfect for touch-ups
Cons:
Highest heat setting is pretty much the only one hot enough to do anything
Plates are so small (obviously) that it takes forever to flat-iron your whole head. As in, don't even try.
Iron is REALLY HARD to hold closed, when compared to a normal flat-iron. I cramp my hands using it because I have to squeeze so hard to hold it closed.
I bought this for air travel, and don't think it's actually ideal for that purpose, but it's small enough to throw in my purse for touch-ups, so I don't have to go home between work and going out.
For the price I'm happy with my purchase.I bought this iron for my recent trip to Italy. For me it worked perfectly. There are 2 heat settings and the higher one was more than sufficient for my needs. I did not have a problem ironing my whole head of hair in a resonable amount of time. It is dual voltage so no current converter needed just a wall plug adapter (so you plug the iron into another plug that has the correct prongs for the country you are in). It is really small. So small that I had my doubts about its effectiveness, but as I already said it worked great for me.
I am 100% satisfied with this purchase!
