I walked by a kiosk where people were demonstrating this product and was very impressed. They let me use the straightener to prove they didn't have a "magic method", and it worked very well on my hair. I was unwilling to pay the $120 price tag, however!
I quickly ran a search on the product and found it here for much less. It is worth it, especially if you are considering spending $40 on a lesser model in a store. The product is easy to use, and comes backed in a nice little drawstring bag for transport.
Straighteners, oddly, can also be used to curl. If you place it in your hair as if you are straighting, turn it 1.25 turns towards your head, and pull straight out, a curl should pop out at the end (or at least with a little twist-prompting). I found it easy to do these curls with this product IF I take my time, and separate an even, not tangled strip. I can't do the quick and dirty type curling I do with a normal curler, but if I take the time to do it with this, the curls are bouncier and more natural looking.
I love my straightener, and am so glad I spent the money on it.

I recommend this flat iron to ANYONE who wants to save money going to the shop. I'm an african american woman with german ancestry. My hair is fairly long and when it's wet it's curly and VERY soft and it's naturally sandy blonde (so it can get dry from time to time)when I blow dry it, it gets fairly straight but with the flat iron I can curl AND straighten in 30min. Sometimes 20min but the thing that gets me is I lay on my hair at night and the next day it's STILL nice!!!! very bouncy and NO frizzies and no dryness it leaves a nice sheen to my hair all I do is spray a VERY VERY VERY light oil sheen to my hair to add a very nice sheen to it EVERYONE thinks I go to the shop but I save about $110 a month this is how I do my hair:* I wash with Dove shampoo (after trying NUMEROUS shampoos and conditioners this brand works PERFECT with my hair leaving it SO SOFT)
* I condition with Dove shampoo and comb it thru with a big tooth comb and then rinse it out
* I use either Dove leave in conditioner spray OR Panteen light leave in conditioner spray to add moisture to my hair
* I then blow dry it straight
* Then my favorite part I use my herstyler flat irons...My husband LOOOOOOVES the way I do my hair and I didn't spend a heap of money at the salon. My girlfriend paid $120 for two of them but I got mines here on ebay for 1/2 that price...I LOVE THEM!

This is a fantastic flat iron. It heats up quickly and has a temperature control which is great to have. I have some natural curl to my hair and it is very frizzy after I dry it with a hair dryer. After using this flat iron my hair is soft and silky smooth. I also own a CHI and I have to say this is as good and probably even better. I just hate to say it's better since I love my CHI flat iron. I think this flat iron makes my hair even less frizzy though, highly recommended.Want Herstyler Classic Forever Ceramic Flat Iron Discount?
Like many, I have been through the mall and been talked into letting some excited individual use this flat iron on my hair, only to have me walk away once they tell me the price. Yesterday, I saw sellers set up in my local bulk store. I had already planned to purchase a new flat iron yesterday, but hadn't decided which one. What caught my eye first was 100% ceramic plates and then second ... the price. HerStyler Classic Forever. Where had i heard that before? It wasn't in the top 10 on the review websites but I knew the name.I don't have thick, coarse or unruly hair. I have lots of fine, wavy hair that tends to frizz in humidity, kink when I sleep on it or curl/wave up if I sleep hot at night. Problem is, there is no need to use a flat iron at anything over 350 degrees for my hair type unless I am getting a brazillian treatment, then I need 450. I hear all the rave about how great Chi is and sorry, but fom the looks of the damaged hair of those who own them, I have stayed far away from that fixed temperature device. Just because you have a flat iron that heats above 410 degrees, doesn't mean that high heat is what you need for your hair.
So here are the pros and cons thus far from my perspective:
PROS:
100% ceramic plates. Not coated plates, not nano ceramic plates. 100% ceramic plate iron are typically in the $200-$450 range. Ceramic provides even heating and less damage if used on the right temperature setting for your hair type. Leaves the hair shiny and soft. Glides down the hair easily
Floating plates with a bevelled type edge. This securely holds my fine hair between the plates and allows for easy straightening and curling if I want. the flex allows the device to glide easier
Adjustable heat settings. Seriously, this is a must if you have more than one person using the iron, medium to fine or chemically treated hair. Not everyone needs to fry their hair with a fixed 392 degree flat iron, or the highest heat setting just because they have it. This device goes from 180 to 460 degrees. Perfect for daily styling and for brazillian treatments!!!
Long swivel cord. It's just plain handy
Textured grip for secured handling.
Heats up in less than 25 seconds.
Straightened or curled hair seems to hold the shape very well and longer
CONS:
100% ceramic plates. You need to be careful with this. You drop it, you are most likely going to break it. Easy does and maybe invest in a holder.
No automatic shut off. Get use to turning it off when you are done.
Its just plain old non glossy black, no zebra print, leopard print, hot pink or neon green stripes or polka dots. Surely that can't be a big deal.
So in short, if you can buy one at Amazon for such a nice price, then why not. Save yourself the headache from the mall people, get a quality product for a great value. There are many great reviews on the product and most of the bad reviews are because of the crappy sales tactics of the mall kiosk people, not the device performance.
