Select Brands Elements 5 E5-901 Hot/Cool Ceramic Styling Iron

Select Brands Elements 5 E5-901 Hot/Cool Ceramic Styling IronI'm pretty disappointed in this hair staightener because I was expecting a lot more. Luckily I purchased it through a discount website so I only paid $25 for it. I'd be very mad if I had actually paid full price.

The ceramic plate (actually tourmaline) on this product is TINY!! And my hair keeps getting caught in the plastic around the plate. It's designed very poorly and CHEAPLY. I straightened my hair at 400F degrees (supposedly) this morning and it's till wavey after losing several strands from getting them caught in the stupid plastic grooves. My other $20 Conair straightener is not the most well-made straightener but it actually WORKS and straightens my hair. I guess if you set the temperature at its max (450F degrees) and if you're very careful to not get your hair caught around the hteated ceramic, you might be able to use it..

I completely echo the previous reviewer. I bought this to replace a WONDERFUL straightener that died after several years of use. This one looked like a peach it got slightly hotter than my old flat iron and had the cooling plate was supposed to help prevent damage to my hair. Well, there's no way this iron is getting up to 430 degrees... it barely straightens my hair and leaves it frizzy, even after several passes. The cooling plate does absolutely nothing. It's just a piece of "marble" and it really doesn't cool anything. What's worse, is that the iron is so poorly made that it has small gaps in the edges around and between the iron plates and the cooling plates, so that your hair gets caught in the gaps and is pulled until it breaks. This is the worst flat iron ever.
