Conair Pro Dual Professional Straightening Pic

Hello Everyone,

I bought this item because I purchased a Conair hair dryer (after my hair dryer blew up after many years of usage) that came with no comb attachment. I was weary because the teeth looked very thin and easy to break and I an African American with natural hair. So I purchased this and none of the teeth have broken (yet). It would be nice if Conair created a comb with thicker teeth made of more flexible plastic. My other dry had a great attachment however the dryer didn't have ion technology.

I purchased this on amazon.com because they no longer carry them in my local Sally Beauty Supply store. My blowdryer is a Conair, so when it said that it was a universal fit, I wasn't worried.

The pic came and lo and behold, it is NOT a universal fit and this Conair Straightening Pic does not fit my Conair hair dryer. I will be returning.

i have two different blow-dryers and this straightening comb attachment did not fit either so i couldn't use it. the packaging says it's "universal" but it is not.

I think this blow dryer attachment is just "alright". The only reason I rate it 3 stars is because it is one of only a couple on Amazon that fit my blow dryer. I think that these companies could produce higher quality attachments but they want you to spend money on new ones. The problems with this mentality is that there is only a limited amount of places that you can find them. This makes replacing them very inconvenient. This one worked great but only for a limited amount of time before almost half of the picks broke off. I will probably order again but only because there is only a limited amount of places to find them.

I have the green and black Paul Mitchell flat iron which I bought from my hair salon about 3 years ago and it still works great. I wanted to buy a new flat iron just in case my old one breaks and I first bought an FHI limited edition. I returned it because it changed the texture of my hair in a very strange way regardless of which temperature setting I used and it took a long time to straighten my hair with it. I was very dissatisfied with it. So, I decided to buy another Paul Mitchell iron and I chose this one. This iron is just great. It straightens without damaging hair and I use it at the highest setting. It leaves your hair shiny and smooth. It takes me about ten minutes if I first wash my hair and lightly blow dry. In between washings,I use it to style my hair in just a couple of minutes. (I have shoulder length, medium thick, frizzy hair.) This is an excellent flat iron and I plan to stick with the Paul Mitchell stylers.

I am new to flat ironing and purchased this flat iron at the suggestion of my stylist-it is the one she uses and I have been happy with the results when she does my hair except for one time when I think she needed to clean the residue off her plates. When I first got the product I took it to the salon and had my stylist do my hair so my inexperience would not be a factor if I was not happy with the results. I am glad I did becuase it pulled my hair to the point where it looked kind of static-y, and she was pulling hair off the plates about every 4-5 swipes toward the end. When I asked she said hers did the same thing when it was new. I am admittedly a novice with this type of styling but that seemed odd to me. I went to a store that sells different types of flat irons and ran some of them over my hair (they weren't plugged in) just to see the difference-only this one and one really cheap one pulled. I deduced it was the silicone strips because none of the other irons had those, including the 1.25 Paul Mitchell iron, which I also tried. The other things most people look for in a flat iron are met by this product: it heats up in 60 seconds, it is easy to grip, cools off quickly, 1-2 glides to get the hair really straight, and the result is soft with a nice shine. However, it seems to me that prolonged use with that kind of pulling is damaging and a new product should not do that. It is too bad, otherwise this is a great iron and would have received a 5 star rating from me.

I got this straightener about 6 years ago or so when I think it first came out. I just got my second one in the mail today. This is by far the best straightener I have ever used. I have naturally curly/frizzy thick hair and I only have to pull this through a strand of hair once and its straight and shiny. My hair never looks dead or damaged from using this one even if I go 6+ months without a haircut. The only reason I am on my second one is because after 6 years my first one is starting to smell funny, kinda like burnt (but I wasn't the best at keeping up on cleaning it and I use product in my hair). But for lasting me this long and using it every single day I am not complaining. I have tried plenty of other products and NOTHING compares to this. Well my stylist used the Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium U Style 1" Flat Iron as I said two weeks ago; she raved about how the iron was made to curl and it did. The curls were really tight and spiral. I didn't wrap, roll or cover my head at night and the curls remained for two weeks. Mind you, they were not as tight as when they were first created, but they remained just giving the hair body and bounce. Personally, I thought the curls were a little too tight but everyone else loved them. I liked them better as they became loser. (By the way I never wrap, roll or cover my hair at night, I simply clap it on top of my head and go to sleep) I am considering purchasing this product, my only hesitation lies in my personal inability to curl or flat iron my own hair because I just suck at it, that is just not one of my gifts. We bought this item directly from Amazon. We received it and it looked and worked great. My wife noticed that it often shut itself off while she was using it. I just received my new flatiron this week and am so happy I purchased it! I have very fine hair that is straight but somehow is always flipping a way I don't want it to go or gets little waves in it. I have several T3 appliances, and am a huge fan. I always feel the extra money is worth it for a superior product. T3 actually tells you not to order through Amazon sellers, as they will not honor the warranty, nor can the buyer be sure it is authentic. I have really learned my lesson! I wanted a smaller, lighter T3 flatiron quickly for a trip I am taking, rather than take my "good" expensive ones. I first ordered the T3 mini in pink through Amazon, and it was clearly used, and would not heat up above a faint warm. I returned it and ordered this, figuring there was still time before I left and it was from a different seller. This was even worse!!! I tried plugging it into outlets in 3 different rooms, and it would not even power on at all!!! It had a huge blue sticker pasted on the side of the T3 box saying "reserved". There is a very good reason why these "T3 sellers" are charging less than authorized dealers--they are selling junk that is used, broken or knocked off. I will NEVER waste time or money on these sellers again!!!

Didn't get hot enough. It claims to reach 400 degrees but it absolutely does not! I have the kind of hair that requires high heat from my styling products and this product simply wouldn't straighten my hair.

What I love about this is that is comes with temperature settings. I'm not big into beauty products, and the instructions didn't explain to me how to use the settings, but it was quite easy to figure out. Fine hair probably only needs the lowest setting, while thicker, harder to curl hair will need a higher setting. I have medium hair, the ends are a bit dry after years of dying my hair (but finally back to my natural color!). Because the ends are dry, I rarely used my old flat iron. It was a cheap-o and I know how much damage flat irons can do.

I was totally excited I had the opportunity to get this iron. The first day I used it, I used it after washing and blow drying my hair. I used the lowest temperature setting because I already used a brush to straighten my hair and needed only to use the iron to make it sleek. Wow. It totally left my hair sleek and shiny and my usually dry ends looked great. The next day, I woke up and as usual, my hair had lost a bit of the sleekness and my natural wave came back. So I used the medium setting to straighten the curl and again, it left my hair silky and soft (and straight!). The temperature setting starts at 160 then goes to 230,300,370,and 410.It heats up SUPER fast. Within about 2 minutes. When you turn it on, a blue light blinks until the temperature you dialed is reached.

There is a comfort grip on each side for your fingers and on each side of the iron, there are raised bars so you can place it on the counter/dresser without worry about it burning the counter/dresser.

I feel comfortable I can use this on a daily basis without worrying about drying out my hair.

I have purchased 2 flat irons in the last year. The first was a very expensive one from a salon. The second was from Amazon and cost much less.

I have three teenage daughters and all of us have long frizzy hair. The very expensive salon iron did a fine job. It ironed hair on one pass. The cheaper one had not. My oldest daughter took the nice iron when she went to college.

Until I recieved the T3 Micro luminous flat iron, I assumed that with flat irons you just get what you pay for. The cheaper iron took multiple passes and did not give the same texture as the more expensive. So I was really surprised at how beautifully the T3 works. It doesn't take near as many passes to straighten the hair. It leaves the hair looking and smelling better than having to press it again and again. My daughter with extremely curly frizzy hair can get nice results really quickly. Her hair is shiny and soft.

I am more than pleased with this product. The T3 is a great flat iron at a great price.

Edit to addI just used this flat iron with a keratin treatment and it work beautifully for that as well.

I purchased a flat iron a long time ago, but it was a cheaper, no named model and I don't have particularly frizzy hair, but it seemed to be the thing for smoothing. After using it, I thought it was a waste of money since my hair has a mind of its own and tends to bend into the shape it wants to, and not based on the cut that I have. I haven't really looked into these since. After trying out the T3 model, I have to say that it definitely works a lot better and does a great job of not only smoothing out the flyaway hairs but also of shaping my ends in the direction they're meant to go. From a functionality standpoint, it works very well. I only had it on a medium heat setting, so I would imagine it works that much better on curlier or thicker hair.

As for design, I guess they've gone with what's been working in the past, so I was a little disappointed that it doesn't have any innovative features. The heat setting and power button are on the inside of the flat iron so there is a chance of burning one's self if you're adjusting it while on or even just to turn it off. There's a dial on the side you can use, but it's not easy to tell what heat setting you have it on since it's not clearly marked. There's also no automatic shutoff feature that I can detect since the iron has a definitive on off button. Lastly, although it comes with a heat mat, I think it would be better with a cradle, but that is likely as extra accessory. Overall, it does the job and well, but design wise, it could stand some improvement.

According to my hair type, the manual said to set it to up to 415 degrees, however I was able to use it with beautiful results around 300 degrees. I can't get enough of this straightener! I always use flat iron spray to protect my hair, however you don't need to pass over each section multiple times so there isn't as much damage (especially with the added protectant). One pass over each section is enough, and at a lower setting I couldn't believe it! The plates are SO SOFT as it runs through my hair. It runs through with no pull, I could barely tell I was running it through! My arms didn't get tired because the iron is SO LIGHT. My hair was so shiny and soft when I finished, it sounds so cliche but its really true. My boyfriend won't stop running his hands through! I can't stop either it really smooths out my normally kinky hair. This is truly a professional grade iron and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an AWESOME iron at a reasonable price that will give you salon results. If you feel torn, rest assured that this is a good choice.

Let me state up front that I cannot compare this flat iron to the CHIs and other high-end brands don't have a clue how well those work or how they compare to this one, because I've never used one of those.

I had been using a couple of older drugstore straighteners. Well, guess what? Those don't work very well I have long, thick, coarse hair, and I would typically spend almost 20 minutes sectioning my hair, making at least two passes over each hank as I applied the not-very-hot irons to the hair. Results were, at best, okay to get better results, I had to spend longer, sectioning the hair into small sections (who has the patience for that?)

Well, obviously, this didn't inspire me to straighten my hair too often.

Then my niece got this HAI Blue Sapphire Titanium Convertable (WHY "-able" instead of "-ible", I wonder?) from a local hair supplies store in Toronto. And her hair looked gorgeous. So I asked to try it.

WOW! What a difference! In under 10 minutes, my hair was shiny and smooth heck, I'd say it looked good enough for hair modelling! I was hooked. Used it a few more times borrowed from my niece, and then went on the hunt to find it at a good price. Let's just say this straightener costs twice as much in Canada as in the US. So I finally grabbed it off Amazon USA at a great price including international shipping, and waited greedily the 3 or 4 days it took for DHL and Canada Post to get it into my grubby little hands.

I received it on a "curly" day. Tried it out pretty much immediately, and I was freshly impressed. Took less than a minute to get to full heat, and again, less than ten minutes to get my unruly hair bone straight. Then I even put in a few of those glorious loose curls by twisting the iron through the strands like I've watched hair dressers do.

Once again, WOW! What a difference a good straightener makes!

I know I'll be having straight-hair days a lot more frequently, now that it is no longer such a hassle. And the best thing is, as long as I am not washing my hair each day, the effect of the straightening lasts a couple of days! Yay!

I've had this thing just a couple of days, but from my previous experience using my niece's one (the exact same model), I feel confident I've made a good investment that not only saved me money, but will also save me a lot of time on always-busy mornings.

This is a really great flat iron! I have been on the hunt for a quality flat iron that I could also use for curling and that would straighen my long, thick, wavy hair in a reasonable amount of time. I usually hate having to do my hair because it takes do dang long! I have another way more expensive flat iron I bought several years ago that I wasn't that crazy about because it left my hair looking dry and dull after I used it-and you couldn't curl with it as it's squared on the edges. It also took forever to get it really straight, even with it's so called "One Pass" technology. This one is light weight, gets hot enough to straighten even my thick long, super wavy hair in its "natural state" (i.e. air dryed, with tons of wave) in about 25-30 minutes. For me that is huge. With my other flat iron it would take about 45 minutes or sometimes longer! The HAI also leaves my hair looking super shiny after I use it which is a new experience for me, I didn't really believe flat irons would do that, but this one does. I do have to put in on the highest heat setting if my hair is in it's natural state (i.e. not blow dried out with lots of wave), to get it really straight. But if I blow it out semi straight to begin with I can use a lower setting and it takes under 20 minutes. I haven't used it to curl yet, but I like that you can get straight hair that is slightly curled under on the bottom. Looks much more natural. This really is a great flat iron,even for someone with a lot of hair and natural wave. You can get your hair super straight quickly enough to where I actually don't mind doing my hair now. And the price can't be beat. I would definitely recommend this flat iron.

Love the look of this. Looks high end, and the iron's an attractive pastel teal color and sleek in design. Very easy to operate because it's totally intuitive. You get a pro length swivel cord to boot. Three temperature ranges are provided which you control with the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons. The heating ranges are: 300 340 degrees (fine, fragile, damaged hair), 360-390 degrees (normal, easy to straighten hair) and 410-450 degrees (for coarse or resistant hair). What is pretty nifty is that within each heat range you can adjust the temperature as follows: 300, 320 340, 360 etc. My last iron was decent but had only two heat settings, and I really wanted more options. A safety shut off feature is included, shutting off the heat after one hour.

OK, here comes the big BUT. The iron comes with "floating plates" that repeatedly snagged my hair even on first use. In order words, being the plates are not level with the base of the iron, my hair got caught more than once under the bottom plate and my hair snapped. As evidence, there was my broken hair practically imbedded underneath the plate. Not good. Did they not test this out before putting on the market? Sorry, Remington that is a real deal breaker, and it's kind of sad because otherwise this is quite nice. At any price point, no one wants an appliance that's going to break their hair. I've found a solution, however. To prevent your hair from getting grabbed, I suggest grasping your hair together with your fingers while passing the iron over your hair, keeping your hair in the center of the plates. Another tip is avoid selecting too large a section of hair to iron at a time. Note: the snags occur at the sharp outer edges of the bottom plate. I haven't owned any high end straighteners, but it's a no brainer that ironing plates must be totally smooth along all edges to prevent any snagging. So, if you see any sharp raised edges on a straightening iron, as is the case with this item, you're going to have trouble.

EDIT (Nov. 2012): This thing is growing on me, I admit it. Aside from the snag issue, this iron does leave your hair nice and smooth and quite straight. The best part is it does not feel dry after using at all even the ends. That's huge because who doesn't have dry ends?

I bought this as a temporary replacement after my CHI died, because until I got my Christmas bonus I couldn't afford another 120 dollar straightener. After using this for just a week, my temporary hair straightener became my permanent replacement. It left my hair lustreously shiny and eliminated almost all of my fly aways and frizz. Now, after a month and a half of daily use, I can see that my hair is healthier and stronger. I bought this from the Remington website because the straightener was on sale at the time for 45 dollars, and it came with the shine therapy round brush and paddle brush (I highly recommend both brushes). If you're torn between a CHI and this hair straightener, buy this one now. Seriously, I cannot praise this hair straightener enough. And for the people worried about the plates pulling your hair and causing breakage, I've been using this for over a month, and never once have the plates pulled my hair. My hair has no breakage, and like I said it's healthier now than it was when I used my CHI. Apparently some people straighten their hair differently than I do. Also, my hair is very thick, naturally frizzy/wavy, and is just long enough that my ends are about mid chest, so this hair straightener can handle unruly hair. The whole shine therapy system, which includes the brushes and straightener, is just excellent, and I will never buy anything else. This review is a little all over the place, but that's just because I love this product so much.

I bought this as a christmas present for my wife since her old one died and I knew that she would never expect me to buy something like this. My decision was based entirely off of reviews and opinions of people on Amazon because I have no idea what this even does. I can, however, confirm that she loves it and raves about it every morning since it heats up fast and does her hair much better than her old one. So while this review is based on hearsay, I am comfortable confirming what the other reviewers have written based on my wife's feedback every morning.

This is my first good quality flat iron that i have ever purchased. I mistakenly bought 2! But i guess i'll keep it or give it to a friend. Anyways it arrived on time works very well. It has a digital display lowest setting is 300 highest is 450. The color is a beautiful baby blue,swivel cord comes in handy preventing the cord from getting all tangly. So you can move around with this do curls etc. Very long cord. The plates are really nice and makes my hair smooth and straight. I didnt have to wait long for it to heat up either. No heat damage was done to my hair at all. I would definitely recommend this item to a friend
