PROS:(1) It's crazy inexpensive! (2) A buttload of temp settings most I'll never use (3) It gets hot fast, and reaches very high temps so that I only have to do one or two passes over any 1 1.5 in section of hair.(4) It's super lightweight so my arms never get tired during the ~40 minute straightening process. And (5) the cord swivels out of the way which is a nice feature. (6) Can do some minimal styling like curling hair ends and adding wave.
Now for the CONS: (1) the plates are only ceramic coated. I've discovered (after much internet research and talking to my stylist) that this means two things: first, they probably won't last very long, especially if consistently used at very high temps. Second, Your hair will get snagged more often and this will increase over time as the ceramic gets 'pitted' (2) You probably wont ever really get that "salon straightened shine" without using tons of silicone-based products. Now, I have nothing against silicone products and I use them all the time, but they will accumulate heavily in your hair and washing them out results in 'stripping' your hair (because of the bonds silicone forms with the proteins in your hair) and that means duller more easily damaged hair in the long run. BUT all you have to do is put back in the silicon and, viola, smooth and shiny again. If this vicious cycle is not for you, then you should understand that unless you have titanium or full ceramic plates you're flat-ironed hair isn't going to be super shiny. (3) Will not straighten damp or wet hair (but most flat irons don't do this so no biggie).
Overall, excellent buy but purchase knowing that you're not going to get the Hope diamond of flat irons.Conair CS3B Ceramic 1" Straightener, Breast Cancer Awareness, Power of Pink
This is an awesome straightener. You get your money's worth. I've tried BED HEAD's straightener which can cost more than $100 and it doesn't work as great as this straightener. I bought an additional one since I love it so much. GREAT BUY.

The Conair brand products generally work well and this product is not an exception. It straightens quickly and quite well for having such small plates. The one con that I can think of is that it doesn't have a comb attachment, which speeds up straightening and makes your hair a lot smoother. It's a great tool nonetheless.Read Best Reviews of Conair CS3B Ceramic Straightener, 1 Inch Here
I bought this flat iron for my teenage daughter upon her request. I was worried that it would be cheaply made, but it actually works really well. I like that you can adjust the heat setting. My daughter uses it often and loves it. I highly recommend this product....and it's nice that part of the sale goes to fight breast cancer.I bought this item only for my Europe trip since it's a dual power. Although it was not as good, straighten my hair out smoothly, like my Chi, but I really didn't expect it to, but it worked great. It did take longer and a few more runs through my hair, but for the price and for the sized it was a great buy and well worth it. I would definatly recommend this product for it's ease in use and price!Vidal Sassoon Appliances Vidal Sassoon VS129 Gold Color Plated Hair Straightener Model#VS129 (120VA

I purchased this for my girlfriend who lives with me.
The bathroom on her side is always full of electric hair styling tools.
She has 2 curling irons, flat iron, blow dryer, small base mirror, and many other things that clog up the 2 sink vanity in the bathroom.
This tool, while currently just sitting in the area next to the vanity on the jacuzzi tub, is perfect.
She puts the flat iron, 2 curling irons, blow dryer, and either a mirror or brush on the holder.
The vanity is now clear of these items, the heat is not a problem, and it just looks and feels cleaner and neater in our bathroom.
The price for this item was also better than anyone else on the web, so we won there too!
The product is made for professional hair stylists daily use in their job.
This will probably last her forever, and can be mounted a variety of ways depending upon your layout.
I bought this product, and would buy it again! This product is good for only 1 blowdryer and 2 flat irons...the two smaller holes can't fit a 1" iron or a mini iron...so I just stick my round brushes in them.

I tried the flat iron today and was so disappointed! I have fairly wavy--not curly, just wavy--hair, and after running the flat iron over the same small chunk of hair at least 5 times (slowly), it barely made a difference; my hair was still wavy. I normally use a $20 Revlon flat iron. It works way better than this mini chi. Maybe it's just not getting hot enough? I don't know. Also, I found it kind of awkward to use. The handle is very short (of course, I know that is a given because it is mini-sized), and holding it up a little higher gets you burned.
I had such high hopes for this. Sad day.I am very satisfied. The dryer and flat iron work great. I use both both in the house and while traveling. Iron is a bit small, and even though my hair is long, it works great for me. the hair dryer and flat iron are great for travel, the extra bottles of goodness were a nice addition too. very pleased.

I have been a faithful user of the original 1-inch Chi ceramic hair straightener for 4 years before I foolishly broke it by sticking it in a 220-volt power outlet overseas. So, I had high expectations for the Chi brand. I always had problems with time management in the morning, so finding a way to dry AND straighten my hair with a larger ceramic pad seemed like a dream come true.At first, I was impressed with how this flat iron effectively turned my damp hair into steam. My former 1-inch iron used to boil the water and spit it out at me, making it useful only on dry hair. However, this one took sooooooo long (about 15 minutes) to dry my hair enough to be straightened that the advantage was lost (even on max temperature setting). I might as well have blow-dried my hair, and THEN straightened it. Well, I thought, at least the straightening part should be worth it because it's a Chi, and it's 1.5 inches so it should be faster than my old 1-inch. NO!! Sadly, it took forever to straighten my hair to barely acceptable levels. I am used to a far better quality straightener than this. I admit that I have super thick, curly hair, but this was never a problem for my old 1-inch Chi iron. I suspect it has something to do with the steam holes in the Damp-to-Dry Iron's design that reduces the functioning surface area and makes it less efficient at straightening. It's time to go back to what's tried and true.

I bought this hoping that it would work as promised when I was in a hurry. As it turned out, I use this all the time because it is fast, effective, and dies not dry out or burn my hair. This Chi heats quickly and evenly. Applied at the roots, you can quickly pull this through the hair and the end result is instant volume. To guarantee that my styling works all day long even on the most humid of days, I apply Paul Mitchell Volumnizer to damp, towel dried hair before I start using the Chi.
My hair is fine and very straight so I can only attest that it will work wonders on that hair type. The end results are great.

I have shoulder length naturally curly/wavy/frizzy hair depending on the weather. I don't like fighting with my my hair, forcing it to succumb to my daily demands. Like stay straight on rainy or humid days. I finally learned when it's natural curls and waves must rule. Otherwise, I air dry my hair then flat iron it with my Hot Tools 1 " Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron temperature controlled, hydration and oil infused plates ; so my hair is straight, shiny, smooth and I'm pleased!
BUT I still use lots of hair products ... so conditioning potions, serums, gels, heat protectant and hair tools are essential to have various decent looking hair styles in all weather conditions, and occasions. Then the Remington Shine Therapy Flat iron, GAME CHANGER, arrived!
Used it yesterday morning knowing rain was coming. It's damp here today and my hair is still looking good. Yes with the SHINE THERAPY FLAT IRON! I only use heated styling tools ONCE per shampoo + conditioner cycle...no hot tools without hair being moisturized beforehand to avoid breakage & stressed-looking hair. I dye my hair and try to minimize other hair damaging practices... ya gotta do what you gotta do to look good.
Pluses & Minuses:
+It heats up quickly
+The temperature control is digital you can set it to various temperatures (from 300 to 450 degrees) that you deter mine are best
for your hair that works for you. There are three levels of heat for different hair types and 10 degree incrememnts within each
level so you can really customize the heat delivered
+At 330 degrees I can straighten my hair in ONE PASS without the usual 1-2-3 to get it right.
+My hair is silky, shiny and straight without heat protectant, serum or any thing else! I'll figure out what will enhance the 100%
Morocan Argan Conditioner effect.
+Pressing the "-" sign until the lock symbol appears will hold your desired temperature so accidentally bumping the temp button
won't be a hair disaster! Hold the "-" again to UNlock it too.
+Floating plates flex to rise or compress and allow your hair to be in constant contact with the heat whether your hair is thin or
thick; compared to fixed plates tailored to a pre-set amount of hair whether thick or thin period.
+The ceramic plates are longer than on my other flat iron so you can grab a wider section of hair at a time for straightening
-That also increases opportunities for hair snags. It was the same with my Hot Tools brand one too.
-Increased burn incidents two crispy fingers here. My other flat iron had nearly 2 inches of cool ridges near the tip BOTH top
and bottom to grab to avoid burns!
+There is an automatic shut off BUT be sure to unplug your flat iron after each use. It resets the temperature and auto-shutoff
function so it will heat correctly the next time.
+The swivel cord prevents the electrical cord tangling
+4 year warranty compared to Remington usual 2 years OR only one year some other flat irons manufacturers offer.
-Get yourself a nice potholder or oven mitt to place under the flat iron, it tends to tip over.
+It's worth the current price compared to more TRENDY expensive flat irons because it delivers what is says it will and then
some...I paid $80 for my Hot Tools 1" Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron with it's own hydration and oil infused plates when it first
came out. My local Ulta store and Hot Tools had to offer bonuses & extras (carrying case, heat resistant combs, hair cutting kit)
to move the Tourmaline Tools off their shelves which induced me to spend that kind of money for pretty good results and a ONE year
warranty!
This Remington will be dominating my Flat Iron carrying case. I highly recommend Remington Shine Therapy Flat Iron to my friends! Last but not least, I like the curved/rounded edge of the iron that permits curling ends under or flipping them out with a turn of the wrist.
+++I called Remington with a few questions for clarification and was pleasantly surprised to reach the USA center with good answers including the reminder about the 4 year warranty. Love the look of this. Looks high end, and the iron's an attractive pastel teal color and sleek in design. Very easy to operate because it's totally intuitive. You get a pro length swivel cord to boot. Three temperature ranges are provided which you control with the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons. The heating ranges are: 300 340 degrees (fine, fragile, damaged hair), 360-390 degrees (normal, easy to straighten hair) and 410-450 degrees (for coarse or resistant hair). What is pretty nifty is that within each heat range you can adjust the temperature as follows: 300, 320 340, 360 etc. My last iron was decent but had only two heat settings, and I really wanted more options. A safety shut off feature is included, shutting off the heat after one hour.
OK, here comes the big BUT. The iron comes with "floating plates" that repeatedly snagged my hair even on first use. In order words, being the plates are not level with the base of the iron, my hair got caught more than once under the bottom plate and my hair snapped. As evidence, there was my broken hair practically imbedded underneath the plate. Not good. Did they not test this out before putting on the market? Sorry, Remington that is a real deal breaker, and it's kind of sad because otherwise this is quite nice. At any price point, no one wants an appliance that's going to break their hair. I've found a solution, however. To prevent your hair from getting grabbed, I suggest grasping your hair together with your fingers while passing the iron over your hair, keeping your hair in the center of the plates. Another tip is avoid selecting too large a section of hair to iron at a time. Note: the snags occur at the sharp outer edges of the bottom plate. I haven't owned any high end straighteners, but it's a no brainer that ironing plates must be totally smooth along all edges to prevent any snagging. So, if you see any sharp raised edges on a straightening iron, as is the case with this item, you're going to have trouble.
EDIT (Nov. 2012): This thing is growing on me, I admit it. Aside from the snag issue, this iron does leave your hair nice and smooth and quite straight. The best part is it does not feel dry after using at all even the ends. That's huge because who doesn't have dry ends?

I bought this as a temporary replacement after my CHI died, because until I got my Christmas bonus I couldn't afford another 120 dollar straightener. After using this for just a week, my temporary hair straightener became my permanent replacement. It left my hair lustreously shiny and eliminated almost all of my fly aways and frizz. Now, after a month and a half of daily use, I can see that my hair is healthier and stronger. I bought this from the Remington website because the straightener was on sale at the time for 45 dollars, and it came with the shine therapy round brush and paddle brush (I highly recommend both brushes). If you're torn between a CHI and this hair straightener, buy this one now. Seriously, I cannot praise this hair straightener enough. And for the people worried about the plates pulling your hair and causing breakage, I've been using this for over a month, and never once have the plates pulled my hair. My hair has no breakage, and like I said it's healthier now than it was when I used my CHI. Apparently some people straighten their hair differently than I do. Also, my hair is very thick, naturally frizzy/wavy, and is just long enough that my ends are about mid chest, so this hair straightener can handle unruly hair. The whole shine therapy system, which includes the brushes and straightener, is just excellent, and I will never buy anything else. This review is a little all over the place, but that's just because I love this product so much.Read Best Reviews of Remington S8500 Digital Ceramic Flat Iron, Shine Therapy, 1 Inch Here
I bought this as a christmas present for my wife since her old one died and I knew that she would never expect me to buy something like this. My decision was based entirely off of reviews and opinions of people on Amazon because I have no idea what this even does. I can, however, confirm that she loves it and raves about it every morning since it heats up fast and does her hair much better than her old one. So while this review is based on hearsay, I am comfortable confirming what the other reviewers have written based on my wife's feedback every morning.Want Remington S8500 Digital Ceramic Flat Iron, Shine Therapy, 1 Inch Discount?
This is my first good quality flat iron that i have ever purchased. I mistakenly bought 2! But i guess i'll keep it or give it to a friend. Anyways it arrived on time works very well. It has a digital display lowest setting is 300 highest is 450. The color is a beautiful baby blue, swivel cord comes in handy preventing the cord from getting all tangly. So you can move around with this do curls etc. Very long cord. The plates are really nice and makes my hair smooth and straight. I didnt have to wait long for it to heat up either. No heat damage was done to my hair at all. I would definitely recommend this item to a friend
