I am young African-American woman and I am in transition with my hair (meaning I use to get relaxers but I am going natural). I have been natural for about 7 months. I manage my hair by geting sew-in extentions. I was looking for a flat iron that won't burn/damage my hair but at the same time get to me roots and edges. My friend told me her experience with her Amika. She is also African-American and has long thick/coarse hair. We both Used CHI irons before. The guy at the mall expalined that CHI irons are coated with ceramic but the Amika's entire plate is ceramic. I was loving what she said about the product however I didn't want to pay $250.00 for a flat iron. So went Amazon.com and look at to Amika flat irons. I was very skeptical about it at first because I have never onlind shopped before. I took a risk and placed the order. I got it a day earlier then it was suppose to come. I straighten my hair with it. . . and FELL IN LOVE! it blended my extentions and natural hair very well. Even in the humidity my hair my hair was a litte poofy, my hair was still straight.I'm glad that I bought the Amika flat iron but didn't break my wallet to do so!

I have a similar one I bought in the mall same manufacturer same size. 10x better! This one has a issue with the the opening and closing isn't as smooth as it should be , it doesn't get as hot as the temperature states and its so squared off that when you use it for curls it causes a bend in your hair rather than a smooth curl. It's not worth the price it seems like one of the first models before the features were perfected.

My flat iron came in a box that was torn and the flat iron plates were all dusty and dirty so

wasn't the cord and the flat iron itself.How can you send an order like that and is supposed to be

brand new.I don't think so.I am returning it.Very disappointing.
