The Good: Great flat iron with ceramic plates worthy of at least four stars.The Bad: Ridiculously HUGE power cord. This so-called portable ("Travel") flat iron seems to have been designed by someone who has never traveled. Why create a 'compact' flat iron and then attach a very heavy and extra-long power cord to it? Even when carefully and very neatly bundled up, the bulky power cord is twice the size (and easily more than twice the WEIGHT) of the flat iron. It looks like the thick black power cords on old desktop PCs, except much longer.
Additional HAI gripe:
This would have been my fourth HAI flat iron...they work great--until they stop working. In my case, the blue coating on the 'ceramic plates'--basically the protective layer that keeps your hair from getting fried--lasts for less than a year. So barely one year of having a excellent flat iron, then the blue stuff starts coming off and the smelly, snaggy metal that the plates are actually made of is exposed and it's downhill from there. There is no way to repair them, according to HAI (San Diego, CA-based haistylingtools.com) folks, who are strangely unhelpful and bordering on rude. They said I can pay for shipping, and then they'll give me some absurdly paltry discount on a new flat iron... apparently, it's not their problem if their products don't hold up. Decent products with bad customer service...it's too bad.
