This is by far the worst hair appliance I have ever purchased. It was a complete waste of money. It does nothing to my hair absolutely nothing. I could also hear it frying my hair. Very disappointed. Do not waste your money on this.

i bought this b/c the bigger one was an amazon best seller but i wanted something smaller. this is perfect it makes great waves, and it's small and easy to hold, heats quick, i love this thing especially for root lifting.

We went to the store looking for a crimper and found this, so we gave a it a go and it's fantastic! Especially for $20. My daughter has thick shoulder length hair and it worked great! Wavy hair in 5 or so minutes. I couldn't believe how easy and effective it was. We can't wait to use it on her hair again and I'm sure I will try it on mine soon, too.

I have a little below shoulder hair. It doesn't wave the way I expected, maybe I had high expectations. I think if you had long hair, it would be ok.

This is my 3rd flat iron in about 12 years. My HAI lasted me 7 years and I paid about $125 for a 1.5inch ceramic plate, the HAI lasted about 6 years (my mom used it for a while before giving it to me) and paid $150 for a 2inch ceramic plate. These two flat irons were awesome and well worth the $ and I would recommend those if you are going to use the iron to straighten all of your hair and dont want to blow dry. The reason I bought the pure heat this time is because I only need it for my bangs because I use the Chi Nano ceramic ion hair dryer to straighten my hair ( I have seen ZERO split ends and my hair looks A LOT healthier and take less than 10 minutes to straighten). The Pure Heat works great to straighten just your bangs, but I dont think I would use it ever to straighten all of my hair it seems like it would take forever.

Received my straightener and i didn't work. Looks like a good one, but if something doesn't work in the first place chances are it will break down the road. several other feedbacks have been the same situation. i wanted to be green, but it just didn't pan out! :(

I love this straightner, here's why: it warms up fast, the blinking light helps remind me to turn it off, it doesn't pull or tug, and it also is a GREEN item so it helps save the earth. If you are looking for a better straightner than what you can get at your local walmart for 20, 30 bucks, but really don't want to spend close to 100 for one . . . this is a happy medium.

The Bio Ionic Sylewinder is the easiest curling you will ever use on your hair.

It has 3 areas of heat, for thin, normal, and thick/course hair. It heats up to over 400 degrees (this is area is for thick/course hair) in around 15 seconds. This iron has dual heaters in it's barrel. The barrel is also mineral infused, so it doesn't dry your hair out. It creates very shiny, long lasting curls.

The greatest feature is the twisting clamp on the barrel. And if anybody has ever used a Marcel curling iron, you will be thankful for this iron. Because it kicks the Marcel's butt! I was looking for the BioIonics iCurl when I came across the Style Winder. The Style Winder didn't take long to get used to, and it does get really hot very quickly, but I feel it's harder to control the outcome of my hair style with this iron then with the iCurl. If your hair tends to be long, and you want bouncy curls or waves, this may work out for you. My hair is medium length and layered, so it worked for some sections better then others. Because the clamp is not tight,(It appears to be designed that way.), I ended up gettng some little wing tips on the ends of my hair as another reviewer mentioned. I think the short width of the clamp may have something to do with that. It takes me longer to use the Style Winder then the iCurl as I have to be careful as to how much hair I put under the clamp so it will hold. It's all right, but I prefer the iCurl, and don't think I would repurchase the Style Winder. Unfortunately, it looks like BioIonics no longer manufacters the iCurl. Note, because of the rotating barrel, the Style Winder does not come with a "kick stand" attached. But the company does provide a nice heavy stand that you can rest the curling iron on.

I am not a stylist but have FINE and THICK hair that never holds a curl. This heats up faster than any iron I've ever owned including Hot Tools and the curl stays until I wash my hair. It is unbelievable to me that it actually works! I paid $5 more just yesterday (it was $99) but still worth every single penny. I am so excited. I cannot believe how fast it heats up and how well the 1" makes curls on my long, super straight hair.

I bought the 2" Hot Tools tourmaline at the same time and it just doesn't function as well though it says it heats up to the same degrees...I had to hold that in my hair while the BioIonic came out just a fraction of a second after getting the rod curled up! It is sooooo fast. It did take me about 30 minutes to figure out which way to spin my thumb to get the right spiral for curling but that's because I'm inept with hair curling devices. Once I got that down, now I know how to work it. There is a DVD included in the pkg and I have not watched that yet.

I love this iron. the first one I bought was in 2007. I'm a Hair Stylist and have my irons on 8-12 hours almost every single day and have had this particular iron on as well. It finally gave out on me in June of 2010. I bought the same one and love this one too. It does NOT damage my clients hair because of the tourmaline plates. Many of my clients have extremely high texture, curly hair and they always come back for their flat iron hair styles because no other iron gets the hair as smooth, shiny and straight leaving the hair in strong, healthy condition.

I purchased the metropolis iron 1" for my daughter for her birthday almost a year ago (that is all she wanted for her 19th birthday) I agreed because of the 10 year warranty. I usually get CHI hair straighteners, but they are more expensive and always break (I think I've had 3 or 4). Because of this, I decided to try a different straightener. This one is great, and cheap (cheaper on Costco's website, though, where I bought it.) You can adjust the temperature which is great and you can't do on a CHI. Also, it has auto-off which I love because I'm forgetful (once again, chi doesn't have). Probably the best thing about it is that it has a ten year warranty, which is amazing as long as they keep their end of the deal up. Really great product. Makes my hair look fantastic.

Chose this iron for my wife as an upgrade to the many irons that she's had that burned out in the first few months.

Though highly rated on reviews, this one in particular had poor build quality, with the heating element not fitting well and a gap always present and catching and pulling the hair at the end of the iron.

Returned for full refund and bought a Brocato much much better!

Amika Hair Iron Holder (Black)

I like the concept of this flat iron holder. It keeps the hot iron off of my makeup vanity. My only problem is that the suction cups on the bottom do not adhere well to the varnished wood surface of my vanity. I'm sure this holder would work great on a glass or ceramic-type surface.

Update, I recently purchased the Amika Clipless Curling Iron and it won't stay in this holder. I think that the curling iron is too bottom-heavy, so it tips the holder over. And since the suction does not work on wood, everything kept falling over. Good luck with yours...

Not in love with this holder. The suction cups keep undoing themselves so it isn't really holding on so well. Not worth the $.

It is solid and keeps the hot iron off the surface but the suction does not seem to hold well so it can tip over if it is not placed properly.

I am satisifed with the product would be better if it were weighted to compensate for the weight of the flat iron. I suspect if we added a little water to the suction, it would hold on a counter surface but we tend to move it around depending on where my daughter is using the iron.

Bedhead Hook Up 1/2"STRAIGHT

I purchased this flat iron before a trip to Israel in early March mainly because I wanted one I wasn't emotionally attached to (Rusk RSK807 Heat Freak Professional STR8 Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron, 1 1/2 Inches)in case it got left overseas. WAS I SURPRISED!! This little flat iron, while not heavy on the settings, packs a punch for its size and cost. It is tiny, so flat ironing long curly hair is a beast (but I stand as witness that it can be done and it definitely gets hot enough). Its great for curling too. It gave me great soft curls. I never had an issue as some of the other reviewers did of burning myself, but I'm a little ocd about that sort of thing anyways and am pretty careful with it (so maybe they just weren't being careful?). I didn't use the dual voltage setting on it since I had a pretty nice power adapter/converter that it worked great with. This is a great little iron for travel, or just if you want an inexpensive way to get tight curls or quick touch ups with a flat iron.

Got this for my daughter. She has short hair & natural curls. She likes that its small enuff to straighten her hair. Unlike most straighteners.

I recently got a pixie cut and struggled to straighten my hair with my usual straightener. I ordered this one expecting it to be a bit bigger, more like the traditional mini style, but this thing is tiny. I couldn't be more satisfied with this thing! It's so tiny and perfect for straightening my short hair. I like to flip the ends to make my hair messy looking and this straightener is great for that too. I would not suggest for longer hair at all! But if you have a short bob or a pixie cut, this is a good choice.

I bought the iTech Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron from Seattle beauty supply Ed Wyse. I had used the product two or three times when in a sizzle of smoke it just stopped workingwhile getting ready for a wedding no less. Appliances have never shorted out in my home the years we've lived here so assumed the product was defective. Because I had the flat iron just over 30 days Ed Wyse would not take it back but instead referred me to iTech support in California. The customer service person responded disinterestedly and told me to mail it back to them with a check for $15 dollars to mail me a new product. I told the rep that after sinking nearly $200 into the product I wasn't willing to spend an extra $30 and time on another flat-iron and could they waive the shipping at least one way. The customer service person was impatient, told me it wasn't his fault and my only option was to mail them the product and the check. He couldn't wait for me to get off the phone. I called Ed Wyse corporate office to see if they could help me out in getting behind their products for a long time customer. Sorry was the reply. I threw the barely used flat iron into the trash and am going to buy the ghd from Sephora to replace it, or the T3 from Norsdtrom, the King of Customer Service. In an economy where businesses are looking for customers I will not give iTech or Ed Wyse any more of my money.

I bought this flat iron online approximately 3 years ago....this iron is AMAZING! I am looking to purchase a new one because after many falls from my dresser while using it the plate has come loose. I will say that the iron continues to work, but having to readjust the plate while it is 410 degrees is a bit much :) I have never had a problem with this iron and agree with previous customers that it makes my hair soft and SO straight. I have pretty curly hair and this iron is by far better than CHI and FHI both expensive hair straighteners.

Ok, so I've been a GHD lover for about 10 years now. Convinced that they couldn't still be the best on the market for their price point and after doing copious online research, I decided to try the Karmin.

I found that the variable heat setting was a waste of time, unless it was on the hottest it didn't straighten hair anyway.

Even when it was on the hottest, it took twice as long to straighten my hair, we're talking 10 minutes for hair chin length and not even that thick!

The straightening did not last with the humid weather (not nearly as much as GHD does).

The handle heats up when you're holding it, making it quite uncomfortable.

Cord wraps around itself (tangle freeyeah right)

Lastly it doesn't beep when it's hot enough nor did it appear to have an auto shut down function.

Finally, after 2 months of being continually dissapointed for wasting my money and time on them trying to convince myself they are ok, I went and got some GHDs again and have been instantly reminded how awesome they are.

These are not the ooh-la-la revolutionary thing the blogs seem to say, they are no better than anything you can get at the appliance store for under $100.

I'm never going to make this mistake again. Going to give the Karmins to my little cousin, who doesn't need a proper straightener to use every day like I do.
