This is the absolute best blowdryer I have ever owned. I bought the diffuser to go with it and my my curls have never been curlier.I was nervous to spend so much money on a blowdryer but after having it for the last few month, I cant imagine living without it, it really has turned out to be an investment on my hair.
This blowdryer gets very hot, I would definately give your hair about a 70 percent "rough dry" before you start using the round brush with the concentrater.
If you look on the paul mitchell website, it says that this blowdryer is ideal for fine hair, there is another dryer that is recommended for thick hair, it is called the express ion dry TURBOLIGHT.

My stylist used to teach at Paul Mitchell's school. I thought he was pulling my leg when he began to dry my hair after coloring with his new "Paul Mitchell Ionic Hair Dryer". To say I love this blow dryer is an understatement. I regularly get my hair done at a Paul Mitchell salon, and my hair stylist uses this same hair dryer. I always feel like a million dollars when I leave. My hair looks bouncy, shiny, and simply amazing. I always thought it was the magic of my hair stylist. However, after my hair dryer died last weekend, I decided to make an investment. I was hoping by purchasing this dryer I could achieve the same results, and I can say with confidence that this mission was accomplished. I will never purchase anything other than a Paul Mitchell product again. I am completely surprised there are not more reviews for this dryer, which is part of why I was hesitant to purchase. My hair is soft, silky, shiny, and bouncy just as if my hair stylist did it for me every day. I am going to say that although this is listed as V.1, it does not say that on the box or the dryer itself, but it does list it as V.1 on the instructions in the box. I also confirmed it is a V.1 dryer on the Paul Mitchell site. With that being said, the V.1 dryer is for us folks with fine hair. I have strait, but a lot of fine texture hair. I read someone else's review that they used it on their thick, wavy, curly hair and it was horrible. If they read the product description, the V.2 is probably more suitable for that hair type, not the V.1, which clearly states "for fine hair". So please keep that in mind. I hope my review helps someone decide on this dryer. It may be pricey, but I believe it is worth every penny! One last thing that I love about this dryer when you press the cool button it holds for you you do not have to hold it in. My hairstylist uses this dryer, so I bought one. I have to use my flat iron less and my hair is so shiny! I use a flat paddle brush (not bristles), I blow dry on the low setting, and finish off with a blast of cold air on my part to keep the flyaways under control. Blowdrying on the low setting takes about 30-50% longer, but my hair looks so much better.
Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron (1-1/4")
I was shipped my straightener quickly, and I was so excited to try Solia out. When I first opened the box I was confused and surprised. Nowhere on the box or labels did it say "tourmaline", and instead of a heat-proof pouch I got an almost invisible sample of argan oil polishing serum. I emailed customer service and got a timely response. All of their straighteners have tourmaline, but they're shipping out all the old inventory packaging before they move on the new stuff. The result: a free sample instead of a heat-proof pouch. Too bad, I really wanted the pouch...I also wish I had just gone to Folica and purchased it there, because right at the top of their website was a code for a discount.
As for the straightener itself, it is pretty awesome. I am Caucasian and have thick, wavy, very malleable hair. I did have to go over the same section of hair 2 or 3 times before getting it completely straight, but that is still better than any other straightener I have ever used. It doesn't tug on my hair, and straightening is faster for me than it ever has been before. I need to get a better heat protectant than Tresemme spray though, because I have a lot of fly-aways. I end up putting hair-spray on a toothbrush and combing the fly-aways down.
Bottom Line: There was a little road bump with what I expected to be shipped, but it is the best straightener I have ever tried on my hair.

This hair straightener is still working as well as the day I took it out of the box. 13 months and going strong.

Both of these irons are way better than any drug store or discount store iron I have tried but over all the Solia is way better for me. I'm going to go ahead and buy another solia even though my Sedu is only a couple months old. I wouldn't mind it so much if I didn't have to keep straightening my hair (sometimes 3 extra times a day). If I don't have time to keep straightening, I have to keep rubber bands in my purse to put my hair up. That's a big problem for me.
What I learned...IF IT'S NOT BROKE DON'T FIX IT.

I am african-american with native-american like hair. It's VERY thick, no relaxer, although its pretty straight on it's own.I ordered this flat iron on a Friday and got it on Monday. I was really excited to use it, so I only used it on part of my hair. My hair was already straight, but the ends were messed up and needed a touch up. The irons didn't seem to get hot and the ends would NOT curl. When my mother came over, she wanted to try them because she's also looking for a good flat iron. It didn't work well for her either. I was highly upset and was looking for ways to return it.
Before I returned it though, I decided to try one more thing. I went to wash my hair, I blow dryed it, and tried the irons again. I was VERY pleased! It only took about 15 minutes (used to take 45 with shoulder-length hair). My hair was extremely shiny and soft, and laid down exactly how I wanted it. I have my hair cut in layers and it really brought that cut out. I guess the first time I tried to use it my hair was just too dirty. The iron still only gets 4 stars because now I feel like I won't be able to touch it up after a week, I'll have no choice but to use my old flat iron for that.
Another good thing about it, is that it get hot, but I can get right to the roots without burning myself. Another plus is that I can start the iron in the middle of a chunk of hair and it won't leave a dent like cheaper flat irons do. Cheaper flat irons also produce a LOT of steam and makes the room smell like its burning, but with this flat iron there was barely any smoke and it didn't burn my hair at all. VERY PLEASED!

I have been using this flat iron for the past year. It worked great and I had no complaints until yesterday. I plugged it in to use it, let it heat up, and picked it up to start straightening and instead, it seriously burnt my hair. It pulled out half of my hair and they were stuck to the plates, melting in front of my eyes. I looked at the iron and it started smoking!!!! I immediately unplugged the unit, threw my hair in a pony tail and went to work.I came home last night and looked at the flat iron and saw that the plates had melted off even after I had unplugged it...very scary. I don't know how hot it must have gotten, but I hadn't done anything different with it that I've done in the past.
I'm on Amazon now shopping for a new flat iron, I will NOT be buying a Solia.

I gave a very favorable review to the Infiniti tourmaline hair designer, the hair dryer sold by Conair as an accompaniment to this Hot Air Styler. I tried the Hot Air Styler because it was light weight, and also appeared to be lighter and more portable than the dryer. As it happened, two hours after the Styler was delivered via Fed Ex, I got caught in a rainstorm while running and was able to test the Styler on my very wet, long, curly hair. It appears to work as well as the hair dryer and is also highly maneuverable. This product is genius! I purchased it this past weekend because of a recommendation from a friend who currently has the Conair 208 Infiniti Tourmaline Hair Designer and Dryer. She said that her current styler works great but its a bit bulky and this styler should be great to handle because it's alot smaller. Boy was she right. I used to get cramps in my arms trying to blow dry my hair and it would always leave it puffy so I would still have to use a flat iron or curling iron. That's not the case with this baby. It's really a 3 in 1 one machine and cuts my styling time in half. I was a little skeptical at first because some stylers don't work well on black hair but this really did. My hair is permed/relaxed, thick and long(a little bit past my bra strap) and this styler managed my hair with ease leaving it smooth and shiny. The hair dryer and straightening iron are hot enough to get the roots of my hair straight but I didn't have to wince once because it didn't burn(which can happen when you use a blow dryer and separate brush esp. if you do it in a hair salon). This means that I can go longer without touch-ups.The ends of my hair did not come out as smooth as it usually would had I used a flat iron but I don't mind because a flat iron usually has to be pretty hot and can sometimes leave that burned scent on my hair even if I use a protective styling cream.
I feel comfortable enough to use this styler everyday. Which is such a relief because I work up a pretty good sweat in the gym. Now I can wash my hair at home and have it nicely styled on my own in less than 30 mins. That sure beats putting it up in a boring ponytail or spending 3 hours at the hair salon:-)
I am giving these as gifts to my sisters for the holidays. It is really unbelievable.

This is the first time in my life I have been inspired to come online and write a review of a product.When I first saw the ad for this on TV, I thought it sounded like just what I needed. I rushed to the store, but it wasn't even on sale yet. Finally I found it yesterday at walgreen'sand I hate to sayit stinks!
I have just below shoulder length curly hair. I generally throw in some gel and let it air dryI hate spending a lot of time on my hair. But once in a while I straighten itwhich involves blow dry with a round brush, and then using a ceramic flatiron to finish. I am not very good with a hair dryer, and it takes me a long time and I find it awkward managing the brush and the dryer, and I don't do a very good job. Plus then I need to use the iron too, and it takes me a good 30-45 min total.
So I thought this product would be great. All in one! A time-saver! Easier to use!
Well, I was wrong.
First of all, it took about twice as long just to dry my hair as it would with my hairdryer. It's not very powerful. Next, it was barely straight! Even on the "4" setting, there wasn't much tension at all. It left my hair puffy and frizzy and barely straight. So after an hour, I had hair that was not as straight as if I had just dried it aloneand I still needed to use the flatiron.
Don't be fooled. It will NOT give you the flat sleek hair that they picture on the box.
I just hope I can return it.
Guess I will stick with my CHI iron for now.
I *might* try the "long hair" version of this dryer to see if that's any better.

I bought this at a local salon when my old iron of four years died. My old iron had been one of the fat, bulky hairstraighteners that preceded ones like these, so obviously I was a little suspicious of the ultra simple, slim design of this straightener. I bought it through a good friend for about 60 bucks taxes in, and it was well worth that money and more. I don't know if avanti is a big brand certainly not as big as CHI but they sure deserve to be! This iron worked wonders, and still does, for my hair, turnign my naturally coarse and curly hair soft and sleek in minutes, and never making my hair feel frizy or dry! As long as I use a decent hair protectant on my hair before use (I currently use got2b guardian angel cheap and VERY effective!) my hair is soft and shiny and whip straight all day.The only drawback is that it has surround heat, and therefore, in theory you can supposedly use it to curl your hair as well, but the straightner seems to be to flat and square, and everytime I try to use it to curl my hair, it makes square ringlet things. Though that could just be me using it wrong, who knows.

This hair dryer does not get very hot unless you use the attachments. I have a conair ionic dryer that works much better than this one and I paid half the price. It is light weight which is nice. But,it doesn't dry your hair faster as stated. I use the dryer to dry my thick short hair that has some curl. I like to dry my hair straight and I would say my conair does a better job straightening my hair than this dryer. Partially because it gets a lot hotter. I would have returned this dryer if I could have gotten my money back.

This is not a real CHI flatiron. It does not work as well as a CHI, it does not get as hot as a CHI, is not made from the same quality material as a CHI, does not come with a 2 year warranty like a CHI, the Farouk name stamp comes off after a week, there is not a serial number on the iron like a real CHI, does not have a model number on it like a real CHI, even the box it comes in is thin cardboard compared to the box the real CHI comes in. At the price paid it is simply a rip off and was returned. In all fairness to there being different vendors mine came from Good Stuff Ever through Amazon but never again.

I owned a Chi previous to this purchase and loved it. When I bought this one, the pictures looked exactly the same as the one I owned so I thought I was getting a really good deal. When I got the product, it was not the same as the REAL Chi I had owned. This one is a lot lighter, has a different outlet plug, doesn't get near as hot, and pulls on your hair. Panasonic KURUKURU Low-Noise Dryer BLUE EH-KA15-A (Japan Import)
It would be a great product, but because of the difference between Japan and US electric, it gets so hot you can't use it. I couldn't even finish using it on my hair ONCE--it burned my hand and hair. They refunded my money, but need to quit selling it. They already know about this problem and I guess figure not everyone will make the effort to get their money back. Its a scam.

It worked well while it lasted & for what it was worth. The heat from the dryer combined with the heat that my hair holds was not a good combo for this dryer which cause the bristles on the brush to melt. Needless to say, I had to upgrade. I have wavy hair... not super curly or thick, but not straight either, so I don't have a difficult time finding straightening irons that work, but I wanted one that would leave my hair shiny and smooth, and do it quickly, so I started looking at irons that were a bit more expensive than my usual 25 dollar range. I came across a review for this on another site and decided to try it. It straightens my hair quickly, and does leave it very shiny and smooth. The only reason I didn't give it a five was that it claims that it locks out humidity, and for the most part it does, but when humidity here is bad and I walk for a 10-15 minutes, I find my hair not as straight and as smooth as when I left. Overall I would recommend this product.
My only concern is that the "on" light quickly flickers once it's at full heat. My
Conair's light flashes slow and steadily until it's reached the desired temp. That makes sense to me. The way this iron flickers just seems a little odd, so I'm checking to see what's up.
Anyway, BUY THIS IRON. Seriously. I don't leave a LOT of immediate reviews (not many at all for that matter). I'm in hair love.

I like being able to control the temperature and I love how shiny it makes my hair. The ONLY thing I don't like is that I can't 'lock' it shut. I travel a lot and it makes it easier to pack it when it's not opened. As it is, I wrap the chord around it and it's fine, but that adds undue wear and tear on the chord.Otherwise, it's a great product and love the fact that it's the same company/quality of a CHI, but at a significantly reduced price.

I got this iron after getting a CHI and realizing that it does not have heat settings/control. All the salons that I go to carry CHI so I always wanted one... Since the biosilk iron is from the same makers, I'd thought I could try it out. I have no problems with it... It heats up really well, my hair does not get caught in the plates and it always comes out great. I love this straightener when I can actually get it to turn on. About two weeks after I bought the Biosilk straightener, it began to not turn on when I would plug it in. It seems I have to have the plug horizontal, the temperature at the highest setting, and then slowly rotate the the cord and watch for the light to flicker. If it flickers then I need to concentrate on getting the cord in just a certain spot to get the straightener to turn on. Once it's on, it's fine, and the straightener works as well as the Chi I had before it. I had similar problems with shorts in the cord with my Chi. I think it's a Farouk thing because I am very careful that my cord does not get kinked in any way ever since my Chi started giving me problems. I would DEFINITELY NOT suggest this straightener to anyone. A friend of mine also has one of these and her's surged and burned off a chunk of her hair. My hairdresser has said she's heard of several people who have had similar troubles. My suggestion is just don't buy Farouk products, they may say they're top of the line, but their quality is at the bottom.Save 44% Off
