I got a reasonable price (39.00) and it is certainly worth that. It heats up quickly -the only drawback I've noticed so far is that the outside of the iron gets REALLY hot and will burn the heck out of your neck or hand if it touches you. Could really use better insulating over the heating plate area.

I actually have the red one and it works like a charm! It gets really hot even if you have it on a lower setting. It straightens my hair in ONE smooth motion and my hair is soft, silky and straight. What I like most about this flat iron compared to all the cheapo ones I've had in the past is that it doesn't snag and pull at my hair. My last flat iron pulled out my hair with every stroke, but this one glides smoothly over. Nice curved design. I'm assuming it probably works for ALL hair types. I'm a black girl and it works beautiful wonders with my hair. I used it on my niece who's hair is extremely curly and it made her hair pin straight. I highly recommend it.

Bought this for my wife who didnt want me to buy her a straightener but after seeing the price and doing some research i couldnt resist. Anyways she has really thick hair that even with one of the chi brands she had to run it threw the same place 3 times...with this she only has to do it once to get nice smooth hair, she really loves it. It took about 2 minutes to heat up to the max which is 420 degrees i belive. Great product.

LISCIO Crystal Cream Straighteners & Neutralizer - Strong

The Brow Art delivered the Liscio items quickly, which were brand new and packaged nicely to survive shipping. Liscio products are the BEST but you have to know what you are doing before using them. This is for experienced DIY'ers and professionals, and it is best to do a patch test first.

For those DIY'ers that are curious about how I used them, here's what I did-

1. I shampooed & conditioned my hair with PPT Do from Milbon (Milbon owns Liscio and designs products that are compatible to use with hair that has been straightened via the Japanes thermal straightening process.

2. I dried hair about 90% dry.

3. I generously applied the Liscio root softener to my roots (do NOT skip this step as the straightener should NOT be applied to roots or you risk breakage or the dreaded 'bends'. But if softener touches scalp it is ok and will NOT cause breakage).

4. Applied the Hair Protection Cream to previously processed hair (it protects previously processd hair by slowing down action of straightener by 30, 50 or 90%).

5. Applied straightener to new growth only (again, not too close to roots or scalp, which can cause breakage. Again, generously applying the root softener will prevent breakage) and processed for allotted time (go to the Milbon site and look at their newsletters for advice on how to tell if hair has been processed sufficiently).

6. I thoroughly rinsed hair for about 10 minutes (insufficient rinsing can lead to breakage). Note that I did NOT shampoo. Then I dried it again.

7. Next I used a Liscio heat protectant then flat ironed my hair in small sections, giving most of the attention to the roots, passing a 410 degree iron over the roots about 4x times, and the previously processed hair 1-2x. Make sure your hair looks silky straight from root to ends. If you want a little wave, you can use a waving or curling iron after the flat iron.

8. I applied the neutralizer from roots to ends to lock in the silky straight look. Gently work it through your hair, ensuring even coverage. Note that it's ok if the neutralizer touches the scalp & roots, as it will NOT cause breakage.

9. I left in neutralizer for about 10 minutes.

10. Then I gently rinsed for about 10 minutes (again insufficient rinsing can lead to breakage). I did NOT shampoo, I just conditioned with PPT Do.

11. I used a Liscio heat protectant then blow dried, flat ironed and curled again. I did not let it get wet for 48 hours, as the hair needs time to oxidize and lock in the pattern of silky straight or silky wavy hair.

FYI, I have used this process several times and have NOT had any breakage. My 3c hair is now silky, wavy, frizz free and growing fast. The only caveat is if you are new to this process, find youtube videos, the Instructables.com instructions AND read the Milbon newsletters before attempting this.

I have really think wavy hair after I shower and my hair is dry it gets all frizzy so I would like to know if I buy this product can I use any straightner to straighten my hair or does it have to be a japanese straightner? Thanks so much!

I have VERY course and thick curly hair and this product gets it looking amazing! I got a Japanese Straightening done professionally at a salon for over 500 dollars and though it did turn out amazing, I was not willing to EVER spend that much money on my hair again. My hair grew out though, and since it was time to get it touched up, I panicked until i was able to remember the product my stylist told me she used. I bit the bullet and got my DIY savvy friend to do it for me... It came out great! It was straight, but with a little more texture and body (which I like even better than the pin straight one I got originally!). I will be buying this product often!

This straightener is AMAZING. I have very thick, very wavy hair and have been at war with it for about 10 years. This straightener is fantastic. I am not sure WHY the vibration makes it work better but it definitely seems like it does. It is not cheap obviously, but it is definitely the best in its class for a product in this price range. If you have thin or only slightly wavy hair, it might not be worth the investment, but if you have especially thick or coarse hair, this product will be a revelation.

I do not own this straightener, however, my hair stylist does use it on me. I LOVE IT! I have short, wavy hair and it glides through my hair effortlessly and leaves it shiny and very "pretty". I will be saving my $$ to get one because it does not compare to the one I have at home, which pulls my hair and leaves my hair feeling dry and looking dull. I have coarse, thick, frizzy, naturally curly hair. Blow drying (which I always do before straightening) makes it hugely poofy. My stylist used this Brocato straightener on me, and not only did my hair look and feel soft, sleek, and super straight, the straightness lasted! I can honestly say that after using this straightener, my hair sometimes looks even better the second day! I use the second highest heat setting (420 degrees, I think), and it only takes one or two passes per hair section to get it straight.

I did not buy this flat iron from Amazon, but I do own it. I love it. It is fantastic. I have thick curly hair that is past my shoulders. Whatever the vibrations do, they do a fantastic job! I used these as a child, and when I got a job that required me to have my hair up, I remembered the secure long lasting hold that these things give you.

They work as well as I remember, but after a few uses, the fabric rips and exposes the extremely sharp metal bands underneath, which is not a problem I remember having when I used them in the past. I've already cut myself a few times using them. I just wonder if something caused the fabric to weaken or what the problem could be.

For the money, it's a great product. Just beware the sharp edges, especially after a few uses.

I have been using the Hairagami perfect bun makers for at least the past 14 years. Crazy eh? I remember when these things were on infomercials at 2am and my mom just had to buy them for me! I needed a good hairdryer for camp, the cheap one I bought at Walmart just wasn't cutting it. I had a Chi Turbo for home, but the switch only worked on one setting (due to the constant on/off it took to blow out my thick, curly hair.) I decided to take the Turbo to camp and buy a new one for home.

While searching on the internet for the best price, I learned about the Nano and really struggled with buying it, mainly because of the price. I liked my Chi Turbo but didn't want to wear out another switch. I also had heard that the quality of Chi products had gone down hill and saw a DRASTIC difference in pricing, so I called my local beauty supply shop. What I learned was that genuine Chi products are made in the US ONLY! If you find a Chi hairdryer for $50, its more than likely a knock off. If you're buying online, and it's coming from anywhere outside the US, its also likely a knock off!

Long story short, this is the BEST hairdryer I have ever owned. It drys fast and leaves my hair soft and shiny, with no frizz, I don't even need to flat iron if I take the time to blow it out right with a large brush!

My opinion, if you're having trouble with your Chi, and you didn't buy it at your salon or local beauty supply store (or other reputable retailer), it's probably not a genuine Chi. You can't buy a $150 hairdryer for $50 and expect it to be great.

GREAT features: the cold shot switch stays on, don't have to hold it, this is great for setting your hair; its is by far the lightest hairdryer I've ever found, and the stand is very functional.

I have owned this flat iron for about 6 months or more and it gets very hot very fast. The plates also seem sturdy and my hair does not get caught on any part of this flat iron. CHI Air Expert Slim Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron, 0.5 Inch

The half-inch Chi is difficult to find in salons and stores, and this makes me wonder if women think they don't have any straightening and smoothing options since the larger Chi is just too clumsy and won't get to the hairline for those of us who have short styles or are in a growing-out stage. My hairstylist introduced me to this and swore to me it would be worth the money. I have hair that easily gets frizzy and poodle like, but not cute and curly. I'm growing it out; at this time I have a chin-length bob.

The half-inch Chi has never given me any burns, it heats up as quickly as the larger one (I previously had longer hair so I have a full-size Chi), and it can get right against the scalp. I swear I was using this when my hair was less than an inch long on top. It has a dial to adjust the temperature when you only need a little heat to smooth out one or two areas. I really haven't found anything comparable out there for short hair. This is also good for people who tend to burn themselves a lot with the full-sized Chi; this one is easier to handle and even when my hair grows out I will use this one for touch-ups. This is the best hair purchase I have made in a long time.

Pros:

-It's decent quality,

-Good for travel, it is supposed to be dual voltage. It's very small and compact

-Because of it's size and quality it is a travel luxury. It would make a nice gift for someone who is always traveling.

-Good packaging

Cons:

-No adjustable heat, only on or off.

-Plates are fixed (the ends will touch first). Easy to damage your hair.

-Not nearly as effective as a full sized straighter.

-Too expensive

It is 3.5 stars overall, but as I'm the first reviewer I will give sedu the benefit of rounding up to 4 stars.

Also, if you can be bothered buy at , they give better deals there. They do not treat the amazon customers to the same promotions. :(

I am finding this Sedu "shortie" to be an excellent product. The mall hairdresser cut my hair much shorter than I wanted and I needed something to "tide me over" until it grew longer. I saw this on the Internet and immediately purchased it and found it to be more than satisfactory. Follow the directions in using it and you will not be sorry. For curls just flip it at the end and the results will be excellent. Within a couple of months when my hair grows longer I plan to purchase the larger one and use my "shortie" for touch-ups and travel. I am receiving many compliments on my "new hair do" and I am very pleased that I purchased this product.

Tool Science Professional Digital Nano-Silver Styling Iron 1 1/4"

I have A LOT of long, naturally curly hair that is fairly difficult for me to control and shape beyond just straightening. I purchased this iron to straighten and curl under or out at the same time (I hate doing 50 different steps to get my hair where I want it and I don't have the time).

This iron will get the job done if you keep your movement fluid with very few pauses during the curl. It heats up quickly and makes the job "easy" (relatively speaking).

However, I can't tell you how many times I've seriously burned my hands since I bought it and I rarely go above the lowest setting of 300. The settings are 300, 340, 375, 410, and 450, I find it extremely hard to believe that anyone needs a setting of 450!

My daughter has gotten into straightening her hair (she's 11) and I absolutely will not let her use this iron alone even though she uses my other very frequently and has no trouble. It just gets too hot.

If you're purchasing this iron, you'll be very pleased but use EXTREME caution with it because it's size and high temperatures make it easy to burn your hands or your head. I would not recommend this for young girls learning to style their hair unless an adult is helping even if they frequently use a larger iron on their own.

My hair stylist and I were talking about straightners and she recommended this one. It is great, and heats up quickly. It has different heat settings, too. It's better for your hair than a Chi because you can control the heat!

Chi Shooting Star to our Earth Iron with Free 2oz Chi Organic Silk Oil

I got a SPI iron at the mall three years ago and when I got home I was terribly disappointed. When the guy used it on my hair at the mall it seemed to be great, but when I did it myself at home, it was pulling my hair, constantly getting stuck and took a lot of pressure, pulling and many passes over the same strand to get it straight and it still came out frizzy. The CHI is totally different. I used my stepdaughters when we were on vacation and had to get one as soon as we got back.

My hair is very thick, coarse and frizzy, but after I use this iron it's straight, soft and silky. I never thought I'd be able to do this at home. My hair really looks and feels like I just got back from a salon.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I just got it and don't know how well it's going to perform over time, but I really do love it and totally recommend it.

I love Chi hair straighteners and have been using them for years. This was my second Shooting Star Chi straightener, the other one worked for over a year and physically broke while traveling so I replaced it. However, this straightener blew a fuse and broke within the first month of use. I am very disappointed because I spent a lot of money and it's broken already :( :( :(

Herstyler Mini-Colorful Seasons Ceramic Hair Styler

They will rip you off, never send your mini flat iron after promising to ship it to you within 24 hours, and then blaming it on the post office for 'losing' the package which they cannot provide a tracking number for (because it does not exist). They will not respond to numerous emails until you file a complaint with Amazon. Then they ask you to remove their bad feedback because it hurts their sales. They promise to make everything right and send you something complimentary after you remove the feedback, but then they disappear. This is all after initially sending the wrong product and jacking me around for five weeks and telling me that the post office lost my return (they provided the label). I would pay twice as much to buy this from somewhere else. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB against them.

When I contacted the seller for a return of the product, following the proper procedures through Amazon, I was happy to find how easy it was to return the products. I printed the return label, mailed the items back to the company and received confirmation that they had received the shipment. That happiness has since gone away. Still to this day i have not been refunded my cost for the items. I contacted this seller and provided the Return address and shipment number which they asked for. It has been several months now and i still have not been refunded.

Overall I am very displeased with this seller and wish to warn others when buying from this particular seller.

BaByliss BAB307 Pro Turbo Dryer, Red

I am simply in LOVE with this hair dryer! It has a very solid, heavy duty, almost industrial feel to it. Actually seems more like a tool you'd use in the garage than a salon product. The 2000 watt AC motor is surprisingly quiet; none of that high pitched whirring sound like on cheaper dryers and an awesome amount of air flows through this thing.

It is a little heavier than the typical store bought models, but that's due to the superior AC motor as opposed to the cheaper DC motors in others. May be a negative for someone with long hair who has to hold it up for a long time, but it's not really that much heavier and I prefer the weight. Besides, an AC motor will last twice as long.

Basically, it's just a well made, sturdy dryer without all the fancy "ionic, ceramic, tourmaline, titanium" claims of other dryers. Personally, I don't really buy all that hype. I've tried ionic dryers and found no real difference. It's the motor, heat settings and product choices that matter in my opinion. Even professionals agree that there is little science behind all these claims and in a study undertaken by the Good Housekeeping Institute, no significant difference in the drying time of ionic and non-ionic hair dryers was found.

This dryer features low and high speed settings and low, medium, high heat settings with a cool shot button. Even the low speed setting pumps out a lot of air. The high speed setting almost blows my hair off! The low heat setting is basically no heat just cool air, medium is warm and high is pretty hot. I prefer just cool air and many other dryers are still too warm on the low setting, so this one is perfect; especially on warm days.

Comes with an attachable concentrator tip that slides over the end and fits very securely. My old dryer (a Remington) had a concentrator that barely clipped on to the end and was always falling off, but this one actually slides over the nozzle and grips on. There's no way this is coming off unless I yank it off. Also has a very long cord, probably around 8 or 9 feet I'd estimate. The color is actually a little darker than in the photos here. More like a brick red and not as shiny, more matte.

This is truly a professional product. Best dryer I've ever owned.

Highly recommended. This dryer feels solid and well built. It is a bit heavier than the typical cheapie dryer. It is also quieter, and has a narrower barrel. (Probably to concentrate/direct the air flow). On medium heat and high speed, dried my super thick hair fast and with a nice result. Based on another reviewer's comment I will use the hottest setting only occasionally.

In the last three years I've never had a problem. The only advice I have is to not use the hottest setting with the highest setting more than a couple times a month--I made that mistake and paid for it dearly with split ends and breaks. However, it is really nice when you are in a hurry--I have thick shoulder length hair and can totally try it in less than 3 minutes with this.

I like this curling iron because of the easy to push button. I don't like the ones with "lever" open the rod. It takes few minutes to heat up, and the temperature is not too hot which will not burn your hair. 5/8" is a perfect size for me. It makes nice curls, and hair goes thru smoothly. The handle looks white on the picture, but it's actually very light lavender color. Too bad it does not come in pink! Also, Conair should not discontinue this nice product. It's the best.

APHOGEE Intensive Two Minute Keratin Reconstructor Restores Softness & Elasticity & Repairs Damaged

This is my first Amazon review! I found this product on YouTube being used by a lot of girls who also have natural hair. My hair is very thick and an inch past shoulder length. I usually wear my hair blow dried and flat ironed straight. Therefore I felt my hair losing its natural curl on the ends after washing, possibly being heat damaged. Also since the winter months it has been shedding and splitting really bad. So i decided to try my first protein treatment and wanted to start off slow. I was really nervous!

I read reviews that I should wash and condition as normal and then place this 2 minute re constructor in. So I followed this routine:

1.Biosilk Silk Therapy Shampooed

2.Detangled with Biosilk Silk Therapy Conditioner added with Mane and Tail Conditioner

3.Washed out

4.Sections hair in 4 sections and Used Aphrogee 2 minute Keratin Treatment Packets (i used both as i have a lot of hair)

5.Put shower cap on and sat for 5-7 minutes. (it took like 10 minutes to put in my hair)

6.Washed out

7. Then used Olive Oil deep Conditioning Packet (30 minutes with shower cap)*this is a first time product I used....

8. Washed out, blow dried and straightened as usual using my EVO and Coconut oil. Then flat ironed

I seen too many reviews that this would leave your hair feeling dry and stiff. Being as though my hair is natural, it would be impossible for me to detangle after that treatment without breaking off my hair. So i decided to deep condition after. Which is the best idea i think!!

Results: I'm NOT super ecstatic about it?! My hair visibly looked shiny and strong after straighten. I DID see an immediate difference in my curl pattern after washing it (before blow drying). My ends had more curl definition. So this will be great in the summer when I want to wear my natural texture. Im guessing this brings back the protein and your redefines your natural texture. I didnt see anymore or less hair shedding from blow drying. Hopefully I will see less split ends and less shedding since using it. Not sure how often I will try this maybe once a month or every 2 weeks. My normal routine takes forever so this already adds an extra 20 minutes> making this at least 3 hours of hair time UGH LOL...keep you posted!
