I gave them one star as they did mail something pretty quickly.I ordered the flatiron because it has a comb attached for easy straightening. I looked high and low for one and was thrilled when I found this one. When the flatiron arrived, it was a different model...no comb on the edges. I called the company and was told it was the correct iron. I had the gentleman look at the website to see it was different. He said that they don"t carry the one I ordered and that the comb part(not true) was an attachment. I asked if I could buy this attachment and was told they did not sell it....ok.I asked if they would change or remove the false picture from the website and he couldn't tell me...it's still on the web...not good business.Conair Hair Straightener Ceramic Dual Voltage

This set is terrible. It does not straighten your hair as it claims. I've purchased Bellezza products from kiosk in the mall and they worked wonderfully. I purchased this one through the mail for my daughter and neither of us like it. It has the Bellezza name stamped on it but it does not work like our others.I also had trouble receiving the correct order from the seller so I question if this product is truly a Bellezza. I would not purchase anything else from this seller.
BaByliss PRO Nano Titanium Mini Straightening Iron (1 inch)
I have shoulder-lenght, dark, thick, wavy and mostly unruly hair... a LOT of it! I'm not your average "thick hair person" out there. I'm putting emphasis on this because I want desperate women with this type of hair (who cannot afford to go to the salon often enough to keep it looking nice -> my case!) to know that this little tool made a big difference on my hair. I had an old 2" plate clunker that did nothing but damage. When my hairdresser used the titanium BaByliss (regular 1-1/2") on me I couldn't believe the results! I then did a lot of research and gambled on this Mini 1" plates. I considered getting a regular size one but I really wanted something light, easy, that I could carry with me on trips. It's compact but potent and also a lot cheaper. I blow dry my hair straight and the Mini does the rest. Best of all, NO frizz, even here in the Florida humidity! So cool :)I purchased this product for a trip to scotland. I paid $20 for it and it worked very well for that price. Dont compare it to your expensive flat iron at home and you will be pleased. I have short, chin-length hair, and could get my hair done in 10 ish minutes--managable but not perfect hair in that time. It is dual volatage so you can use it abroad or in the states, i used my converter adaptor set w/ it anyway. It heats up very quickly and is the perfect travel size---can fit in your carryon and not take up much space. There are no heat adjustment settings--hot is what you get, so you may want to make sure you use a protective spray on your hair first.Overall, very pleased w/ the product and the price.

I was looking for a smaller 1" flat iron and this does the trick. Works great, gets hot enough on the plates, but not the handle. Compact for travel. Only negative that it didn't come in a case.Want BaByliss PRO Nano Titanium Mini Straightening Iron (1 inch) Discount?
I have very wavy (sometimes curly) hair. This worked better than a lot of full size flat irons I have tried. It heats up quickly and is easy to us. I bought it for a vacation and now I sometimes carry it in my purse if I think I might want to touch up my hair after work.Rusk Anti Curl #2 For Color Treated Hair
My hairstylist uses this product on me and it has been a godsend. For over 30 years, I have had frizzy hair. My hair is not curly, it just has a slight wave. I used every kind of conditioner and hair product but my hair still frizzed with any kind of humidity. I got teased as a kid and as an adult people would think they were giving me some amazing advice when they told me I should use a conditioner. I would not trust myself to apply this product, I do believe it should be left to the experts. I buy this myself and bring it to my hairstylist they don't carry this brand. It smells a bit like one of the creme hair removers ie, Nair. After it's done, my hair is straighter and I can go out on a humid or rainy day and not have to worry about looking like I just stuck my finger in a socket. It gives my hair a nice shine and it feels baby soft. You do have to take better care of your hair and deep condition it when you use this product because after all, it is a chemical process.Hello!!I'd like to share my experience with this product. Hopefully someone will find it helpful.
I have very curly, coarse medium hair.
I wanted streight sleek hair. I was going to use a different brand relaxer.
...But someone from a hair care store recommended this product. I am not sure if she ever used it herself. But I still took her advice since she seemed to know alot about hair. She recommended me, formula #2 for coarse, porous, permed or highlighted hair. She told me it was gentler than regular relaxers.
I used it myself, I followed all the instructions carefully. When I was finally done. There were still curls in my hair, but not as curly as they were before. Now I have wavy hair.
But this is deifinetly not a hair streightner. Although this is very gentle on your hair it is more of a texturizer.
The thing that I really did not like about it was that it left my hair drier and frizzy when my hair finally dried. Although it's supposed to make your hair less frizzy... it just didn't work for my hair.
But who knows your hair might work with this. But really, if you were to ask me, how I felt about the product, save your money and go to a hair salon place to get your hair done, if that's too expensive, I am sure there are other relaxers that are better than this.
Note about the product: (in the pamplet it says not for bleached hair) And it does not come with any gloves/applicator/or fine tooth comb, you have to buy those sepretly. And if your sensitive to smells, it doesn't smell too good it kind of smelt like bad egg, very strong odor. X_X;
There are 3 types:
Formula #1: For normal hair
Formula #2: For coarse, porous, permed or highlighted hair.
Formula #3: For resistant hair (extremely curly hair and African American hair).
I really had high hopes for this product but I did not like it. Sorry.
I suggest doing a strand test before you put it on your hair to see if you like the results. Or better yet, go to your local hair salon place and get your hair done. :)

I have been using this product for 15 years. I have very curly and coarse hair, but it can be easily damaged. If you follow the directions correctly, it loosens the curly and make it less fizzy and softer. It does not completely straighten all the curl out but it is MUCH nicer and I don't have to worry about damage.Read Best Reviews of Rusk Anti Curl #2 For Color Treated Hair Here
With any DIT Hair Treatment your risking your hairs health. I've fried my share of strands in the past trying to achieve the look i want. I had wanted to do the Brazilian treatment but after EXTENSIVE research decided living in NYC was exposure enough to harmful carcinogens without dipping my head in formaldehyde. In my reading I learned about this Rusk treatment and finally decided to give it a shot. I did not leave it on for as long as prescribed and did not pull it straight (in an attempt to avoid breakage) After getting a trim (that I did professionally) it looks great! I'm constantly receiving compliments on my new look. Def worth a try! I've recommended it to many of my mop headed friends. :)Want Rusk Anti Curl #2 For Color Treated Hair Discount?
I have very dry curly hair and to add to it I do color my hair. I love this product if you follow the directions it will work for you. I used it for years when I wore my hair straight. When I used it as a straightener I would let my hair air dry and then flat iron it. You do have to condition your hair and take good care of it when using chemicals on it.Now I do wear my hair curly but still use this product because my hair is so uneven with the curl. It is very curly underneath so I leave the product on underneath for about 10 minutes and then do the top of the back, sides and crown for only 5 minutes. I will usually do the back on one week and then the sides and crown on another week. I always do it myself so this gives me more control. I use the product about once every nine months. I only treat the new hair that has grown out.
You have to remember that even people that have straight hair and perm their hair still do not have hair like a person with natural curl. Just like the curly hair going straight does have its issues as well. The thing I do like about this product is it does last and if used correctly will do the job without damage.
Remington CI95AC/2 Tstudio Salon Collection Pearl Digital Ceramic Curling Wand
It comes with a heat protectant glove (which if you're wary about using this kind of curling iron, it's a big plus over the gloveless, equally priced Conair version) but I've used many an iron and didn't feel the need to use it. The first time I used this, I did accidently burn my finger and the ends weren't curled perfectly, but after that first session I've been a pro. I love the variety of waves you can get with the barrel size, as well as how quickly I can do my hair! I've never been able to style it in 10 minutes before (the exact amount of time before I had to dash out the door or face being late to class, a gamble that paid off), and since you don't waste time carefully arranging it in the clamp, it's easy to grab a random section of hair and wind it around. My hair keeps its shine and has great springy curls that relax into natural looking waves as the day goes on.I've used this iron on my friends, and one of them has very fine hair that hasn't ever held a curl well but with this iron, hers lasted through the next day even after she slept on it. I also loaned it out before a party and both girls came up to me with rave reviews. Two of them are considering purchasing this.
I would definitely recommend this wand to any of my friends. My teen daughter was thrilled when this Remington Curling Wand came in and used it almost right away. She has very straight, medium thickness hair that takes curls fairly easily using regular curlers and this curling wand worked very well for her. Here are our observations:
Pros -
+ Gets Hot Quickly; it comes up to temperature fast and is indicated on the digital display
+ Smooth Wand; the coating on the wand is VERY slick, making the curling process very easy
+ Tapered Wand; allows more natural looking curls
Cons -
Tricky to Use; there was a bit of a learning curve since this is fairly different than her old clamp type iron and rollers
Easy to Get Burnt; this gets very hot and the body of the wand is completely exposed, so I highly recommended using the included protective glove
Misc -
* We found that using this on someone else's hair is easier (and safer) than doing your own
This wand does produce good results very quickly, but it might not be for everyone (especially younger kids) due to the risk of burns.
Recommended, with the caveats above.

I'm not usually one to write reviews on products, because I don't really rely on them myself. However, some people do, and it's for those people that I write this.Do NOT let the (majority of the) 1-star reviews color your decision to purchase this wand! I can't tell you how annoyed I got reading them this product in no way deserves to be rated negatively, because most of the people who gave it one star simply didn't bother to learn how to use it before giving up and coming here to whine about it. People, it's NOT difficult. There are dozens of tutorial videos on YouTube for this wand and others like it. All you need to do is watch a few of them, practice on a rainy day when you're not going anywhere, and you should have no trouble.
Look, I've got fine hair. When I first purchased this wand, it was cut to my chin and stacked in the back. And I had no trouble using it. You need to do it in layers, starting with the bottom. When you pick up the section of hair you want to curl, spray it with a little hairspray first. Wrap it around the barrel (pointing down, because I noticed someone said they didn't know which way to point the thing) as close to the end of your hair as you can. Keep just the very tip of the section between your fingers. Do NOT press the hair to the wand with your fingers. The instructions say that, but it seems many people didn't read that part. The wand gets hot. The glove was not made to be pressed directly against the wand only to protect your skin when you brush it against the wand while winding your hair, which you inevitably will.
If you're like me, when you get halfway around your head you'll have to switch hands. Do it. The change in direction of the curl will give you a more natural look. Just keep working in layers, sectioning your hair, spraying the sections, and overall BEING PATIENT.
Maybe I'm lucky in that I worked in a salon for 4 years where one of the girls consistently used her curling iron not with the clamp, but wrapped hair around the barrel, so I had an idea of how this was supposed to work. I didn't order an obviously clampless curling iron and then complain because there was no clamp. Reading product descriptions does wonders, people. As does learning to use a tool properly before writing a negative review because you couldn't be bothered to learn to use the tool properly. This wand is not designed to give you gigantic Texas beauty-pageant hair. It's designed to create soft, natural waves. If natural-looking hair isn't what you want, then pass on this. I get so sick of people who whine and moan about a product simply because they were too flipping lazy to figure out how they were supposed to use it. Would you go on a car-buying website and give a Toyota a negative review if you didn't know how to drive? Sadly, after reading these reviews, I think some people would.I initially ordered this fearing that I wouldn't have much luck. I have thin, fine, shortish-medium hair. It is layered, and the longest layer is just brushing my shoulders, and the shortest layers are a little past my ears. I watched all the YouTube videos I could find on this wand (AskSash88 has the best one "How to Get Taylor Swift curls") and prayed it would work with my short hair, otherwise I was just going to pack it away until my hair grows longer like I want. I have never been able to successfully curl my hair with a curling iron without clamp marks and it generally looking kinda crappy and taking forever. My hair regime for the past 10 years has been wash & blow dry because I always screw up the simplest hair styles.
I got this wand today and practiced a bit. I did get a tiny bit burned a couple times because I found the glove hard to use when seperating my hair since it is so fine, the strands get all stringy and it's hair to section off -someone with course hair would probably have better luck with the glove. However, the wand worked so well and my hair looks great! I had to wet it and start over after my initial experiment, but the second time I did it, it turned out so well.
You DO NOT need long hair to use this successfully. You just need to be more careful with shorter hair and go a little slower. It took me about 45 minutes to curl my whole head but it was my first time trying it and I'm not used to curling my own hair. I'm sure once my hair gets a little longer, and I get more practice, it will take no time at all. Love this product!

It does the job! Down and dirty, hot and fast, this is your tool. Four stars for doing the job but with reservations: be careful or you'll be visiting the ER with some very nasty burns. This is an entirely different kind of curling iron than what I'm used to and the first thing I want to say is : DON'T GET BURNED! If you aren't a pro at handling a curling iron, stay away from this one. And don't let the kids use it either. This baby gets hot fast and it doesn't have the clippie bar a traditional iron has so it's a little trickier to hold your hair and get it wrapped around the wand. A "glove" comes with it to protect you hand since you have to actually hold your hair on the barrel. The glove may be something special but it looks and feels just like those cheap exfoliating shower gloves you can get in the drugstore. It really doesn't give you that much protection. It's better than nothing but the heat comes right through so you better work fast.
I like that this has a user variable setting in degrees (just like your oven) so you decide how hot you want it. Although the is actually 100 degrees difference, the range is still a bit on the high end to my way of thinking. Thick coarse hair will need the higher ranges but the low end is still pretty crispy for my normal hair. Fine or thin hair might get fried even on the lowest setting. I actually had steam coming off my hair after I used it while my hair was still dampish, and that was on the lowest setting.
I think the controls on the handle are excellent. I also liked the way you have to hold the power button down to turn it off and on. How many times have you accidently turned your iron off when you had to change your grip on the handle? You can also lock in the temp setting so you don't mess that one up either. The LED is easy to read and the iron cools pretty quickly too when you turn it off.
The texture on the wand was nice. It is nonslip but cleans up nicely if you have product on your hair when using it.
While I liked the idea of having a cone shaped wand for varied curl sizes and hair lengths, I don't think this feature works very well. Maybe if the cone was just a little longer with less size variation in any one area. My hair is short so I didn't need to use the large end at the base at all and I didn't need to have curls of the same size since I used it for a casual touseled look. I doubt I could have used it for something more structured.
It was really hard to decide on what to rate this. The innovative design and heat features made this a real winner. The crappy glove and radical size difference on the barrel really detracts though. I ended up with four stars because it would be an excellent tool for advanced and experienced users.
I plan to have my grown daughters try this curling iron out on their longer hair and will update this review if they get a more positive experience than I did.
Jose Eber Josbluplt Signature Flat Iron (Blue Plates), Black And Blue
First time I've heard about it was at a Southern Women's Show. I did a test run there and loved it. It straightened my hair nicely and gave it a visible shine. I didn't buy it there because they were asking almost $200 for it. When I came home I looked it up on Amazon. It was last season's version for under $40! I jumped at the deal. I've been using it for a few month now and I really love it. I've had others before that were heavy and awkward and I really had to work on getting my hair straight with them. Which this iron I had to do one pass and its straight! It is light and thin and comfortable to hold and use. It has a dial wheel to set the iron to whatever temperature you feel comfortable with and it only heats the plates not the whole iron. It does come with a heat protective glove but I never had to use it. Every time I use it to straighten my hair my husband compliments me on how straight and shiny my hair looks, which he has never done before when I used other irons. Hair also stays straight and doesn't get frizzy for a couple of days. If that is something you want then you found the right iron. I've owned this flat iron for over a month now and it works great! The adjustable temperature really helps and it makes my hair straight and shiny. The price was right, too!Buy Jose Eber Josbluplt Signature Flat Iron (Blue Plates), Black And Blue Now

This is my second purchase of this brand of flat iron. The first one was for me and this one was a gift. We both love them. They heat up very fast and are safer for your hair. I was having to replace my Chi flat iron every year. This one will last a very long time. I would definitely purchase another one.Conair Infiniti Professional Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron
I actually have the 2" and it is by far the best curiling iron I have ever used. My hair is the type that has always been hard to curl even with a "gallon" of hairspray, it just would never hold. (I have long/thick hair) I barely put any hairspray on and my curls were awesome loose curls. I plan on getting the 1 1/4" inch one also for some tighter curls. You know how the skinny ends of your hair you usually have to use your fingers to wrap the hair around because it will slide right through? That didnt happen with this. No matter how skinny the ends of my hair were or how skinny a section of hair I did, the curling iron gripped the hair right to the very end so I never had crappy looking ends or burned my fingers wrapping it around.
I have nothing negative to say about this curling iron at all.I used this for the first time this morning, and I CAN'T believe the difference tourmaline makes! I had a ceramic iron before, and there is NO comparison! I wouldn't bother spending the big $ on chi or T3 for the price you cannot beat this one!

I've been looking around for a good tourmaline ceramic curling iron and went with this one for now because of the low price. I do like it and as far as I can tell it does not seem to damage my hair. Maybe in the future I'll go with a pricier one but for now this one seems to do just fine.Pros:
heats up fast and has different heat settings
the protective cover comes in handy
can't beat the price
tourmaline ceramic better than just ceramic or
worse, bare metal
looks nice
swivel cord
auto shut off
Cons:
the on/off switch is in a bad spot on the handle.. I
am constantly shutting off the iron by accident
the cool tip is not long enough to hold onto, making
it easy to burn your fingers
I honestly have not had this iron more than a week
so I can't say there aren't more cons but I'll
update this if I do find any

This is an awesome curling iron, which heats up super fast and even across the entire curling surface (no hot spots). The multi-heat settings and LCD readout are also clever and very useful features as well. The cost is amazing and the shipping from Amazon couldn't be faster! So, with all of these raves, why do I not give it a perfect 5 star rating? Well, two minor quibles keep me from giving it a perfect score. First of all, the LCD panel displays the temperature setting that you selected, but it gives you no indication of when the iron has been heated to that setting. There should be some sort of visible notification to let the user know that the iron has achieved the desired temperature. Also, included in the box is a clever slip on cover that you can supposedly slide over the iron, after it has been shut off, to protect you from the hot surface of the slowly cooling iron. However, the slip on sleeve becomes extremely hot to the touch, so it offers very little protection. And since the cover is plastic I am afraid that it could possibly melt and/or cause some damage to the iron surface.Overall I think this curling iron deserves a solid 4 and 1/2 stars, but falls short of a perfect 5. I feel very confident in recommending it to anyone looking for a high quality iron that will meet or exceed their expectations. This iron is a top performer with just a couple of little shortcomings.

This is, by far, the best curling iron I have ever owned and I have owned a zillion of them. It holds your hair firmly but still let's it slide without damage to your hair. I use the highest setting and my waves last all day. I like the cover that comes with it so I can put my hot curling iron away withouth waiting for it to cool down. The long cord makes it possible to use just about anywhere. It is a quality product and I highly recommend it.Hot Tools Professional Ceramic Titanium Professional Curling Iron
If I had rated this iron right when I got it, it would have been a 5 star it gets super hot (which I need with curly, thick hair) and gets hot FAST. It's also silky smooth and really glides through your hair love the cord feature which allows for ease-of-movement. The downside is that since I've had it (1-2 months) the purple coating is totally coming off...and I'd suspect in another few months it will be really bad. I'm not sure if this is do to the product that I wear on my hair might be but I can't give it 5 stars when the coating started coming off immediately. Also, the iron doesn't have auto-shut off. Granted, it didn't advertise that it did, but I haven't purchased an iron in the past several years that DIDN'T have this feature so I took for granted that it did. If the coating wasn't coming off and it had auto-shut off, it'd be the best iron ever! That being said, I love the iron so much that I would buy another one when the coating comes off for the money, it's the best iron I've ever had and I've had many!I've used Hot Tools curling irons in the past and trust the brand. I bought 2 curling irons in the time span of about a little over a year. The ceramic purple coating eventually burns off and fries your hair worse than a regular metal hot tools iron. The coating doesnt last long, if it didn't burn off the coating, this would be a good iron.Read Best Reviews of Hot Tools Professional Ceramic Titanium Professional Curling Iron Here
I've had many curling irons throughout the years and wanted a curling iron with a bigger barrel since I have hair about 3 inches past my shoulders and didn't want a curly look most of the time. My hair tends to be on the fine side fine hair, lots of it so I try to be careful about what heating tools I will use on it. It is also highlighted so it can get damaged pretty easily. Back to the iron. Apparently I was wrong in thinking that I had owned a 2 inch barrel curling iron before. I must have had 1 1/2 inch irons because when I took this monster out of the box I was surprised to see how truly big this thing is. I'm trying to find something in my office right now to compare it to give you an idea of the circumference. I have a can of Aqua Net (hey, it was on sale at CVS and I needed hairspray to keep at work) under my desk and the cap on it is about the same circumference. The size of this iron makes it a bit cumbersome at times to use. But I think the more I use it, the easier it will be. It has numerous heat settings which is good because as I mentioned I have fine hair and fine hair and heat are not a good mix. It heated up quickly but I did notice the first two times I used it, I turned it off without realizing it trying to maneuver this mammoth iron. I used it on the fine setting, which is the lowest, and kept it in place for about 10 seconds. After a few uses, I will say that I also have an issue with turning it off and sometimes changing the settings without even realizing it. That can be annoying when you are in a hurry and your hair isn't curling anymore because the iron is off and now cool and has to reheat. Back to the curl if you are looking for big, loose curls, I don't think this is the iron for you. I am using it more so to smooth out my hair I do a quick upside down dry for volume and it needs a bit of taming down. If I use a straight iron, I get a really flat look. This smooths my hair and leaves it with volume. I start from the top and work my way down. It curls the ends in a bit but I would not say that my hair looks curled. It takes time to get used to it because of the size. I also wish the cord were just a little bit longer but that is not enough to make me discontinue using it. I won't give it 5 stars because of the awkwardness of it but it is a 2 inch curling iron.Want Hot Tools Professional Ceramic Titanium Professional Curling Iron Discount?
I love this curling iron. It is huge. I have shoulder length thick hair and I use this to add body like a blow out. I tend to start with upper portions of hair and curl down rather than the normal tips and curl up. It seems to provide the body I need while saving the ends from unnecessary damage. I have tried everything in the world to either get my hair to curl or be straight and noithing as worked until now. I love this product. I have been using it for months. Meaning I bought the kit and have used the refills twice. Althought it takes a little bit of time to apply the straightening product. Once I washed it out, my hair was very soft. I have very thick and wavy hair. This cuts my styling time more than in half. It keeps your hair straight even if you sweat, or are in a humid environment. I did find however, that you do need to use the flat iron after every wash, to get the super straight look. But this may just be because of my thick hair.
All in All, I love this stuff!! I hope it is always available.

Several months ago, I purchased this iron for myself and LOVED it, so I decided to get my mother one for Christmas. It's a little weird to get used to the "clipless" iron after using the old style for so long, but once I did, I wouldn't go back to the clip version.
Results I have noticed: my curls aren't frizzy when using this product, and it's easy to make waves or tighter curls.
I highly recommend you try this type of iron!I really enjoy this product. The iron doesn't create that "burnt hair" smell you sometimes get with regular curling irons. There's no frizz, and hair looks full and flirty. I have naturally curly hair, but this iron adds a smoothness and more polished look. Great product. So happy I ordered this. I received it quickly and was very happy with the product. It's so easy to use and I love my new curls! For starters I ordered "this" product 25mm and the company and seller Amazon included sent the 25mm BOX and packaging. However they sent me a 19mm in the box. My husband checked the product number online and it's 19mm and I was charged for a 25mm. It seemed rather small. The seller is blaming Amazon and Amazon is blaming the seller. Like some sort of good cop bad cop game. Long story short if you plan on ordering this 25mm I mean 19mm is what you will get. They try to trick you by sending it in the 25mm box, labels, and packaging. I wonder how many other buyers actually have ordered the 25mm and do not realize they actually have 19mm courtesy of "just gorgeous" should be called "just liars". Order if you have a mm measuring device and want to wait 2weeks to play their reordering refund game. Doesn't sound fun ladies!!I absolutely love this tool. I have naturally curly hair but it's very long and therefor doesn't hold curl well, until this tool. I swear it will curl ANY type of hair. I have roommates with very straight, thin hair and since I've had this, I'm the household beautician. I have to curl their hair before every time we go out. It can do very tight ringlets or loose curls. It takes some maneuvering but once you get it down, it's really easy to use. Good stuff.
Remington S8590 Keratin Therapy Straightener with Smart Sensor
I have been cursed with Zimba's hair, my hair can be described as a Lion's mane. What do I mean by that? Thin, frizzy hair, not exactly curly, though not straight either and with a tendency to occupy three times its volume. It has the advantage of being super malleable, I can do whatever I want with it and the disadvantage of getting ruined by just whispering at it. That means, I have a love-hate relationship with hair straighteners since I was twelve. I love how my hair looks when I use them, shiny, tidy, easy to handle, but on the other hand, use it twice and my hair starts to show all the signs of destruction. This straightener has a few key features that help with that:
The Keratin Therapy Bath: Helps the hair look shiny and keeps it protected, though I think it gives the straightner an odd and a little nasty smell when heated.
The fact that one can control the temperature: Super easy to determine which temperature to use to straighten your hair, great for people like me that have hair that is thin and easy to straighten but also easy to damage. Granted, using it in the lowest setting can make the straightening process a little longer and a little less effective, but it is worth it for every day use if you don't want to ruin your hair.
I must say I used it a couple of times and so far, it doesn't look like it is damaging my hair too much, which is great.
Another great feature, that it automatically shuts off after a while, just in case you forget and it also has a locking mechanism that makes burning yourself less likely.
Overall I think it is a good product. A few things I liked about the Remington Keratin Therapy Straightener is that I had more control over creating waves or "curl under" than with my other straightener, also a Remington. My other one is a Remington S9520 Ceramic Straightener with Pearl Infused Wide Plates.
Things I didn't like:
* It was hard to run thru my hair... it doesn't glide through like my other one. I basically had to tug it through, ensuring that I became painfully aware of my hair's damaged condition. FYI, my hair isn't like crazy-lady damaged like a wild & crunchy mane, just dry from coloring & straightening. I often get compliments on it often because it looks so "silky".
* Because it has a sensor that senses damage, I had trouble straightening the ends of my hair that are the most damaged. This is because the straightener is built to lower the heat to stop further damage. While the idea is good, if I didn't persist with the ends of my hair, I'd end up with lampshade shaped hair. Ironed flat on the top, triangular fly-away ends on the bottom.
* I found the same amount of hair breakage in my sink when I used this model. Not sure what that says about their heat sensor technology, except for that it may not work as well as advertised? Not sure.
* The heat sensor prevented me from fully straightening my hair, therefore it didn't look silky or healthy.
In the end, I prefer my wide plated straightener and went back to it right away. Honestly, who wants to think about how damaged their hair is while styling? It was as though I was being punished. Frankly, I damage my hair, then cut, and repeat. Who cares, it's not like it's affecting my health or infringing on other's happiness.
BOTTOM LINE: If you have ANY previous damage, this model makes it harder to style your hair.

This flatiron is very pretty silver color and it has a smooth taper on the end that makes it easier to use and hold while using. I have another Remington that I use almost daily but this one's ergonomic design makes it a little easier to hold for me. This straightener heats up super fast and is ready to use in seconds. There is a digital readout on the side that shows how hot the straightener gets which is supposed to help you not burn your hair, I think this can only help if you know at what temp. your hair begins to burn. This Remington gets super hot so it would be helpful to know at what point your hair gets fried so you don't turn it up all the way and have your hair start to break off. You can play with the heat with 5 different settings to figure out how high you need the heat to straighten your hair.
There is a thin strip in the center of the ceramic plates and this is the heat sensor for the temperature read out, my daughter said it pulled on her hair a bit and she could hear a pulling noise, but I haven't experienced that. I think her hair is more damaged from using heating products and this may be a problem for her damaged ends. I would consider using the straightener setting in the lower 300s if you have some damage and don't venture into the 400 zone on this unit at all (it goes up to 450) if your ends are bad. This is a high heat tool. If you are serious about your straighteners this could be one you will really like. It has keratin infused plates that are supposed to last a full four years and it comes with a four year warranty, so it's a serious straightener and worth the price and I think it's competitive with the higher priced tools. If you are a casual user and just want a straightener to use once in while, Remington has straighteners without all the bells and whistles that this one has, and they all seem to work very well. We have three or four Remingtons and we pretty much like them all-especially the flatirons with 1 inch plates like this one. There are three of use in the family that use these products on a regular basis.
All in all, this is a really nice looking straightener (I use them for curls and waves though and have long thrown out my curling iron)-it has auto shut off, temp read out and you can set it to any temp. you want. It heats up super, super fast, and gets really hot, professional temperatures, so be careful on the higher heats and always use a protector on your hair. I use a Wen cream that heat protects my ends but they can still get burned even with normal straighteners. If you are looking for a pretty, new, super hot unit, this one is great and the four year warranty is a plus. If you already have a lot of damage, this isn't going to cure your hair but if you want to keep your hair healthy and don't already have damage, this unit can certainly help you maintain the health of your hair.
Want Remington S8590 Keratin Therapy Straightener with Smart Sensor Discount?
I must admit. I was skeptical that this little straightener would work with my hair. I have extremely thick hair, waist length and super wavy. It takes me an hour with my current straightener which is super wide. The Remington Keratin Therapy Straightener not only straightened my hair. It did it in 10 minutes. I section the pieces off and before you know it. Straight hair.
When I tell people about this particular straightener, the first thing I mention is that it is "smart". Straightening hair is very damaging on the hair. The Remington has a senor in the top plate that detects the amount of damage to the hair and delivers only the amount of heat necessary making it the most safe straightener I have ever used. My hair has always been on the dry side so I tend to not over do any kind of heating to it. Knowing that my hair is actually getting less damage, makes me want to straight more often.
As for the Keratin, this was the most interesting feature to me. While I know that Keratin is a natural protein in our hair. I was unsure what difference it would make as far as being in a straightener. My hair felt much silkier than ever.
Another plus that I keep mentioning to everyone when I discuss the Remington Keratin Therapy Straightener is that usually when I am flattening my hair, I cannot touch the hair. It is way too hot. I thought it would be the same but it wasn't. I am assuming this was due to the sensor placing less heat but if that was the case I would think it would have taken more run throughs for the straightening that I got.
Pluses:
Less heat on the hair shaft due to the sensor
Keratin conditioning is amazing for your hair
Heats up in less time than my last 3 straighteners (ready to go in 30 seconds)
Automatic shut off in 60 minutes. Love that. As someone who always worries about this even though I don't have to (OCD, I guess) it is good to know.
Price! I paid over $130 for my current (prior to this one) and it doesn't do half the job.

PYT Ceramic Styling Tool - Snow Leopard New
I have to admit that these ceramic hair irons do smooth my hair like no others I have used. I have thick, wavy hair that tends to frizz and once I tried this PYT iron at the mall, I had to have one.The price was right from this seller. The iron arrived in a week. In the USPS box I found the unsealed (magnet closure) hair iron box and a "free gift" which may be a cardboard nail buffer, but I am not sure. A small slip of paper mentions this "gift" in the box and asks for positive feedback to be posted for this seller. Sadly, I cannot do so.
The hair iron itself does work, but not nearly as well as expected. It takes five or more minutes to get hot and does not seem to reach 400 as promised. There is a red light indicator on the unit that I am guessing should turn green once it reaches the temperature you set. The green light on mine flashed on but then went back to red and did not come back on.
However, the more serious issues were: first, the unit does not have a GFI plug. I would surely prefer to have a safety plug on something so likely to be used near a sink, but this item has just a small traditional plug. Buyer beware.
Second, my iron has missing parts, or tips, that should cover each outer end of the iron arms. Instead there is a bare, white, rough material, with paint leaked on it, which is lower than the iron plates and so catches my hair and pulls. I am guessing that two small plastic covers were left off in manufacture.
I wrote the seller, sent them clear photos and explained the obvious problem and asked to exchange for the same item but with cover plates. Seller wrote back that they do not have any more of these in stock (although they are still selling it on Amazon at a higher price). They asked me to put it back in the post office mailing box, mark it "return to sender" and drop it into a mail box (it won't fit) or an "unattended" mailing location. I am wondering if this is a way to avoid paying for return postage for a defective item and thus I am not confident that I would ever get my money back.
The mall seller claimed this iron retails for $200 but they sell it for $100. This Amazon seller listed it for $55. I have found another identical-looking iron on Amazon for $38, which may or may not be the same thing--meaning same manufacturer but different logo and packaging.
After all this, I realize that, if I can find it, I will have to pay a significantly higher price for a safe, quality product with a reliable warranty and responsive customer service. This product is amazing!! I have tried many other straighteners which worked good but this one puts all the others to shame! It makes my hair so straight, sleek and soft!!

This product works, but not to the extent that it's said to. Supposed to be revolutionary and straighten hair faster while making it smoother but it seems just like any other straightener I've tried. I do like to use it for curling and I do believe curling my hair with this product is easier and quicker than my last flat iron. But as far as straightening goes, I haven't seen any difference between this to my Conair.Read Best Reviews of PYT Ceramic Styling Tool - Snow Leopard New Here
